In the past week I've had 3 people complain that they bought from my vendors and failed to receive product and have it turn out to be because they had muted me, thus automatically declining the inventory. These were all brand new customers, and not a one had a clue that I had been muted. (Thank goodness for alts!) Anyone else experience this? Anyone have a hypothesis as to why this is happening? Help? =^.^=

I have a hypothesis. I was at a regular hangout with a very good friend of mine one evening. Some idiot there thought it would be funny to spam something silly to the point it was annoying, so I muted him to deal with it quickly. After he calmed down I unmuted him. After another 15 minutes or so I noticed that people were addressing my friend in chat, yet I had not seen him respond or initiate any chat. ??? On a whim I checked my mute list and there he was... It seems to me that when I unmuted the other person, SL arbitrarily muted someone in the same vicinity.
Of course, I have also heard of people meeting for the first time and one having the other muted with no apparent memory of doing so, or reason for doing so. *shrug*

Perhaps some usability issue with the pie-menu (a 'slip' while trying to interact with your vendor)? Have the infamous 'pie-menu gestures' been turned back on, perhaps? Something similar? Hope this works out for you

Interesting, perhaps this is why I've had a couple customers who contacted me about failed deliveries, and then when I attempted to send the item manually I was told they declined the offer. Never met any of them directly, so the "random person in the vicinity" thing can't be it, it must be completely random for all of SL. It would also explain why none of them contacted me back after I told them it didn't work

/me takes a stab in the dark that she suspects isn't right..
Any chance you two have greeters in your shops? Or maybe "copybot defeaters"?

No and no; good thought though. There's nothing in my shop that spams people, and anyway if that were the issue then I would have been experiencing this ever since I opened, but it's only in the last couple weeks that this has been happening. My guess was that they had set themselves to busy mode without realizing it.

A lot of times you go into a shop and are hit with message spams over and over and other then using "discard" one way to stop getting these notes is to mute person who is behind this which in most cases is the shop owner. This is so very annoying and that's how I do it, I mute and no more spam.
This is one way to mute you without realizing it later.

actually i found a mute text mute voice option and accidently clicked mute text (well not really by accident i wanted to figure out what all the buttons did) I have no idea if this means they wont get stuff though but I turned text back on as I dont use or even have the voice option enabled.

I don't send anything to a visitor until the visitor asks for it. No chat, no notecards, nuttin'.

I often had to IM customers with an alt after a failed vendor delivery, since they couldn't "hear" me, and it always turned out that they had no idea how the heck I made it onto their mute list. Always have an alt handy in such cases. Explain them how to unmute you, then send the missing wares.

From: Jillian Callahan I thought busy mode at first, too. But in bysy mode you get thier busy message if you IM them. I often get "the resident is in busy mode" messages, 10 times in a row, without having IMed anyone. Usually, short time later someone complains about not getting their purchase. My guess is that LL installed a protection against scripted spam. Some sort of auto-mute. Buyer's in busy mode, vendor spams him, vendor owner is automatically muted, buyer's outraged for not getting anything for his money and merchant supposedly not answering. Always trust LL to find the most problem-prone solution.

Yes, in the last day two people have me on their mute lists and they had never used it before.
Something is clearly buggy.

Yeh, seems to be a bug. Friend of mine couldn't "hear" my IMs last night immediately upon logging on and she specifically had to unmute me (despite never having muted me in the first place).

Interesting, I have encountered this twice in the last week. First one was a tenant that rents land from me, he had no idea how I had become muted. Second was a customer who kept asking why he didn't get his items Here I thought I was just having a wierd week.
