From: GaL Soyer i hear all the time about Prims limitations... There are specific technical limits to how many prims you can rez on land and some practical limits to how many prims you can wear. Each parcel of 512sm of land supports 117 prims. The only way you can exceed that limit is if you own more land *in the same sim* and you choose to "borrow" the extra prims from the other land. So, if you own a total of 1024sm of land somewhere on a sim, a single 512sm parcel could support up to 234 prims, but then the remaining land couldn't support any. Prims that you attach to your avatar are NOT counted towards the prim limit on the land. But the more prims you wear, the more you strain the sim resources. So a prim-laden avatar is going to contribute to local lag, both for themselves and everyone on the sim. As a matter of courtesy, you should try to show some restraint in your attachment selections.

Pardon me for saying this, but size does NOT matter. As far as the simulator is concerned, a prim is a prim is a prim. And 100 prims for a necklace wouldn't be out of line. I've seen them with that many and more. However, there is a limit to how many prims can be linked together into a single object. It's been a while since I've hit that limit, but iirc, it's around 256. I could be wrong there, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong Kam

Yeah, I hear that all the time from my students. At any rate, if it's any consolation, this "prim is a prim is a prim" thing does not, now that I think about it, apply to mega-prims--big, fat, huge prims if ever there were any. Kam
