I've been to several of those new low prim private sims and was looking for information on how to order one of those. I've never used the Land Sales office. Is this an option when ordering a private island? If so, how much is it for ordering/tier?

You can't.

It is not possible to buy just one Openspaces sim (The proper name fo rthe low-prim sims).

They are sold only in batches of 4 openspaces sims, at the same price as a normal sim, and must be anchored to an existing private sim that you already own.

Low prim sims allow 1/4 (?) of the normal prim allowance for a sim. You can only buy them four at a time. You must already own at least one full-prim-allowance (ie normal) private island, and the low prim sims must be placed so that they connect to one or more normal private islands you own.

Do you know what the tier is on a low prim sim? Do you pay tier on all four or only on one?

All 4, its the same cost as a "regular sim"..and the tier fee is the same.

Youre just dividing the prim limit amongst 4 different sims, rather than 1.

Like it was said already, you can not buy 1 at a time, its in a batch of 4. and you have to connect it to to a 'regular sim'

I'm very new to SL and in my search for land, have found many of the private sims selling small Open Space parcels have surrounded them with water.

Does this add even more limits to building? like do you have to build lots of additional structures to support a house?

the open spaces sims (low prim) are mainly used for landscaping purposes (ie - interesting gardens or outdoor habitats). But if you did wish to build property on a water section then a simple platform anchored to the water bed would be a low prim solution and not look out of place.

Have I got this right? You can buy four sims, each with a qurter of the normal sim allowance, for the same tier as a regular sim?

If that is the case why would anyone buy a regular sim, when for the same price you get the same amount of prims and 4x the amount of land???

You can only buy the low prim sims after you have bought a private island. So you have an option of buying the low prim sims to adjoin your private island. You cannot buy the low prim sims alone.

The main reason is that teh 4 sims share a single set of server resources. So a class 5 server could have 1 sim with about 60 avatars in it at teh upper limits of efficient handling, or 4 sims with 15 avatars in each one. I imagine there's an additional amount of overhead because the one server is handling 4 sims which would make it less efficent than simple maths would suggest.

The sims are limited to 1875 prims each.

About what you would get for 1/8 of a normal sim, not 1/4.

Really? I thought it was 1/4, guess not. Sorry about that.

Anyway, Rock... The openspace sims lack the performance of a regular sim. Theyre meant for light use though I have seen more heavy use on them.

Also, if running a business its ideal to just put it on one sim. for traffic count and such

You have to contact them seperately as they are only an option for people who already own an island.

It's a shame. I'm sure a lot of people would love to run an island size sim, even with a 10-15 avatar limit and only 2000-3000 prims to play with, for $75 per month and probably less in upfront costs than even a 1/2 of those prims would cost on mainland.

Find me enough tenants willing to sign legally binding contracts as tenants for a year, and I'll happily buy 4 sims like that and rent them out at cost.

I currently live on one of these. I call them "Filler" Sims. Mine connects with 3 other sims and I allow anyone and everyone to come visit and leave an extra prim allowance of approx. 150-200 prims for people to boat or whatever around the island.

I probably also have the more active of the 4 "fillers." As two are rarely used. :D I've fit 20 avatars with no extra lag at all.

I've also put one of those rezzing zombie jiggers on it that I rez a ton of zombies and shoot them for stress relief, and it doesn't lag there either. I wouldn't suggest using them for clubs, but for shops and residences they are a great place. :D

It was a slick move on LL's part to offer these up.
