How do I take the orientation balloon tour? It tells me to sit down, but then tells me there is no place suitable for sitting. The balloon then takes off without me--with some crazy physics of passing right through me.

Whomever (some Linden guy) wrote that taking the tour was easy was clearly not sober when he wrote it. I'm sober, but clueless--still. I've yet to get anything right in Second Life. Where's all the fun I've heard about? I'm just walking and flying around nowhere fast and frustrated.

And btw of no real issue or consequence, this is not my first posting. I've been frustrated and here in the forums before. And, I'll taking no bets that I'll not be back a few dozen or more times. Why is Second Life as hard as my real life?! :)

I clicked on the compass in the center, this made me sit down, though not in a proper place, and entered go in the chat, and in about 15 seconds, like the balloon said, the balloon and I took off.

You might prefer to get a ride from someone with a balloon.

When taking a balloon ride you will want to try the camera functions, using the alt zoom function to look around, focus on different things, maybe use the control 8, control 0, and control 9 keys to magnify things or fisheye the view.

You are right, clicking on the seat in a logical way either produced the message you described or did nothing at all.

So try clicking on the compass and remember you have to type go.
