Is anyone else still being launched in the air, or just simply floating away for no good reason?...Does anyone have any solutions? Live Help is not answering. I'm really to the point that it is just not worth it anymore. I have 3 paid accounts in my household, I own land, pay my tier, and I consider SL my entertainment the way others might go to the movies, or clubs, but this is just beginning to not be worth the hassle. The frustration, the sadness, the anger.

Can anyone help me?

Is there anything listed in your "pushes and bumps" menu option when this occurs? It might be malicious...

yes, I've had the same thing the last couple of days. Just seems to be part of all the other issues going on.

The Linden Leap

Happens in several ways. We're all familiar with the push from a pose ball that can send you up in the air. My friend got up from our porch swing last night and landed 12 meteres away!

But, you are probably referring to the focus bug. You are typing in the chat window, then you do something else <walk, move your camera view, type in an IM box, etc> and when you go back to chat you type away and nothing appears in the chat bar, and when you hit enter you go Leaping!

This was fixed a version or two ago, but was quickly broken again. Just make sure your cursor is back in the chat window when you start typing. Kind of a pain, but... it's SL

I think it's typing the "e" that sends you flying when the focus bug hits.

WheEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

No, it has nothing to do with the chat cursor, but thanks for the suggestion. I'm not talking about just being launched a few meters. When this happens you get launched straight up in the air. I was at 1500M before I tpd out, and someone else went as high as 6000M. This is something very weird that is going on in my sim, Walleye (I don't own the entire sim) Once it happened while I was editing something, other times it happens while I wear a particular pair of boots that have a walk in them, but sometimes it happens for no good reason, just walking, not chatting, I'll be by myself.

It happens to other people too, just when they're at my place. I see them just go floating away, arms & legs flailing, so I know they did not fly off willingly. I had to replace all my teleporters, because they were plastering people to the ceiling. I reset and recompiled all the scripts, and it did not fix it. These are items I have had at my place for months, and the only variable I can see is the recent grid attack, the evil party hats.

There is one particular spot at my place where I can trigger the launch. When I walk from my place to my friends place, which happens to be in Redear, there seems to be an unstable spot right there at the sim border, and I will go sailing off, and the only way to get down is to tp out of there.

Oh, and it's not my scripted items either, I tried my boots in my home sim, Dansim, and no launching....I filed a bug report.

My place is a place for newbies, so this is really something that needs to be corrected soon. Newbies do not know what to do in a case like this sometimes, and I cannot be there all the time to warn them.

It really sounds like a malicious push script in a hidden object . Try turning on "Highlight Transparent" in your view (?) menu and look for any suspicious red objects in the vicinty of your launches !

If you own the land, turn off push scripts on it and look in the object list for objects that belong to someone you don't know and return them.

Thanks guys, more great answers, but I have push restrictions on already, and I regularly check my land for objects not belonging there, and return them to their righful owners. Is it possible to have a malicious script running that is not in a prim?...Otherwise, I'll have to turn my place into a fun/haunted house, if this continues. I also turned scripts off and still I got launched.

Are we all stumped now?

Natasha, correct me if I'm wrong, but is this all happening in one particular sim? And there is no other object on your land that is causing it? Well, there could be two things that I can see, one is a person using a Hud to orbit or the sim is kinda goofed up. Either way, my suggestion is this, get on Live Help and ask for a Linden to help you with the situation.

Explain the situation completely and see if they might restart the sim to check to see if that isn't the problem. And if that's not, maybe they can track the problem or can get someone who can. Otherwise, I'm stumped.

Thanks, I had Char Linden at my place last night, I have filed a bug report also. We'll see what happens.

It is only happening to me in Walleye, and it can happen when no one else is around, there are no foreign prims on my land. It actually happened on someone else's parcel in Walleye as well. Everything there has been there for a while and running fine, until the evil party hat attack a couple nights ago. I have turned push off and scripts off and it will still happen...creepy huh?

The other weird thing I noticed today, is if I turn scripts/push, or some other option on or off, the icon on the top of the screen does not update, unless I leave the area and come back, and it is like that for others as well. Not sure if you know what I mean here, but if I have scripts turned off, and you have the icon up top, then I turn scripts back on, the icon does not clear...it stays. Then if I walk off my parcel and walk back on, the icon is gone, is this normal? does it need to reset or something?

It happens to other people too...go over there and check it out.

Could it be happening just after you leave your parcel? Does it happen at the edge of your parcel? Perhaps it's a neighbors security script gone wild.

It's not isolated to just one spot on my parcel, although, right at the border it's worse. But it also happens in the middle of my parcel too, and my neighbors have not changed in a long time. I'm hoping it will correct itself in time. It is very strange to say the least.

Although, I think a lot of people need to reset some of their scripts in the area, spinning objects are still spinning wildly, I reset mine after the fix was put out and it's now spinning normally.

*nods* I think I will :) I'm just curious and it'll drive me crazy, until I see it for myself.

It will probably 'correct itself' after a restart of the region, or at least by the next update? *looks at her calendar* Isn't that this next Weds?

This is normal. You won't see updates to the title bar until you step off and back on a Parcel.

As for the push... I think you're being attacked. Have you seen anything pop up on your Bumps report (I apologize if you answered this already... I looked after it was asked earlier and didn't see you say yes or no).

Jump Back out of pose
09-28-2006 08:13
Hello, Maybe some one here can help. I have a pose that I set, but it jumps back behind the chair when the poseball is linked. Is there a way to ajust the script so that it will step out of the pose forward or perhaps a way i can adjust the script so the avitar sits forward or done more with out turning it then if i turn it baack the Avitar will jump forward instead.

I looked though all the help guids that come with the program but unable to locate anything so far.

Thanks in advance.

If nessary i can post the script here for suggestions how to modify the script. If I posewd to the wrong group please direct me to the approrate one.

Just to add:

On one of the Help Islands, a chess table and chairs that had been left out was exerting a continuous vertical push on anyone who sat on one of its chairs and then stood. New members were floating away. This was following a crash/reset of the region. A Linden reset all scripts in the object, eliminating the effect. I have seen no other examples of this bug.

There's something in the script called offset that is relative to your avatar and the piece of furniture you are using the pose with. I had a similar problem, and I IMd Craig Altman. If it is one of his sets, he may be able to help.
