On more than one occasion, another SL player makes a threat and all of a sudden my SL client crashes and closes. In fact this has happened several times. I've never paid much attention to this since the other SL players are people who I don't know and have never came across before. Of course since my SL client is closed, I don't really know who was on my screen before it happened. But it seems that this is happening more and more often. There appears to be some kind of security flaw or weakness in the SL client that allows people to do this. This has even happened once in New Citizens Inc, where a person who was close to the people who run NCI said something to the effect that he was going to show me a thing or two. (I guess he didn't like the way my female friend ignored him). All of a sudden, my SL client crashed. My female friend remained. When I came back on, the guy said "Hehehe."

SL has been crashing like mad recently, for me it happens when I drop a worn item.
I think in your case it's coincidental, but who knows with this program..oi.

To follow up to the reply, my SL client rarely ever crashes except during a heated argument with another player. Coincidence? Maybe. But the coincidence would compare to flipping a coin and coming up heads 20 out of 20 times.

Sadly, people that know enough about scripting can easily crash someone else's client. They are prob using an exploit or sending you so many things so quickly the client can't handle it. Possibly orbiting you...who knows. My advice is to report the person threatening you. Also, when the client actually crashes click the button that says "send crash report". That way if it is an exploit in the viewer Linden Labs can possibly patch it.

That is a pretty severe denial of service attack vulnerability that the Lindens definitely should fix, then. It seems that this is pretty widely known because I've been attacked several times, so that the Lindens probably know about this as well. They need to address this issue immediately before it becomes an epidemic.

I've met a couple of people who have had their client crash due to a dos attack, one of them 6 months ago. Both incidents were reported but there still doesn't seem to be any protection in place:- big shocker!

Yeah, it's a well known-fact around in the SL "street gang" community that people can crash you if they got the right Gadget/Gun/MultiTool Go hang around in Los Altos for about a hour and you'll probably hear "If you crash my computer again...!" about 10 times
