Guys, we were thrown a lil bone here to keep the wealth of information going between resis. Please do not abuse this forum as a personal debate arena, attack forum, classifieds, complaints, or anything that is not asking a question about Second Life.

There are lots of resis with real questions who are being bumped off the front page for non-game posts.

Don't abuse this forum and make us lose it. The biggest argument for forum function loss was the ability to help others. Please use it as such.

If you are looking for something or someone, please use classifieds.
If you are wanting a Linden answer, please use Linden Answer forum.
If you are wanting to find things to do (activities) within SL, please use in-world tools, or classifieds (they often list upcoming big things).
If you are wanting general discussion and debate, please use a wealth of 3rd party forums.

It didn't seem like there was a big problem with this forum to me. So, I took a look at 50 posts (roughly two pages). Here is what I found:

41 relevant posts -
2- looking for something. One was looking for SL related podcasts and one was looking for a money chair list. Personally I think these were both legitimate uses of this forum.

5- questions relevent to various settings and tweaks of SL. (group land, selling land, tracking friends, etc.)

5- Pretty specific how to. (start a store, set-up your own terrain file)

7- asking for general advice ranging from Is This Harrasement to questions on are we approaching WOW in number of players.

9- new residents questions ranging from driving cars to finding free avatars. Yes, this did include some asking of where to find things. It would be better to teach them about the inworld tools here then to sit back and judge. You can always post an explanation to help.

13 - troubleshooting questions including questions on lag, crashing, is this a bug.

9 posts I think probably should go somewhere else.. or just go away.
5 - posts complaining about SL and LL
1 - suggestion for LL
1- looking for a specific someone
2 - suggestions for other forum readers. One a suggestion on curbing the grid attacks. The other your suggestion on these forums.

All posts were directly about SL. From what I see people are staying civil. I don't think we are doing bad. The is just my 2$L.

For the most part we are, but if you read through some of the longer threads, it's mostly been civil but there has been some mild flaming.

While they all pertained TO SL in general, some don't belong here specifically. This is why I made this post.

All it takes is for 1-2 posters to ruin it for us all, so I wanted to post a general guideline of what's okay here.

If you look at the 'rules', while some posts you deem are okay, they do belong in other forums, which I try to point them out to.

P.S. Several posts were either moved, combined or deleted as well, which lead to this post before they were.

If Satan himself came posting here, I don't think Linden Lab would shut the forum down. They don't want to have to answer all the dumb questions. They'd rather let us do it. We're cheap!

Flame on, everybody!

I have reported this thread as it does not contain a legitimate question and is therefore clogging up the forum. Also, the poster concerned smells of wee.

And though I am very happy to help out where I can please do not view this as us being "thrown a bone".

This area is awesome and has already helped tons and has taken some pressure of the Linden answers areas and support as well. We are being a help to LL and the residents.. not being thrown a bone. :)

I am pretty puzzled when I see posts that make this area sound like it is getting out of hand like I saw in Linden Answers lately. If this area was not doing what LL hoped it would the plug would have been pulled already inho. :)

Honestly though.. thanks for looking out for a valuable tool here.

Just saw this:

From: someone
P.S. Several posts were either moved, combined or deleted as well, which lead to this post before they were.

That will be part of the process here. LL expects that I am quite sure. When more get moved then help we will have an issue. ;)

Oh no no, I meant thrown a bone as in, they shut so many forums down, that to help ease the concerns of resident help, they opened this forum up. :)

I saw the post you were referring to, I do think it was a bit much, but I just wanted to remind everyone that the Linden taketh and they can giveth. :D
