I've currently owned land but I'm trying to save money. I would love to live in a nice community where there are houses and shops. Roads are nice or sidewalk. I dont mind renting a house as long as they are nice houses. Where my daughter rents is a lovely place with not too many houses a community pool and roads. Its quite nice. Even the homes are great. But its 2k a week. And that to me is to much to rent a home. I can afford it but that just seems to crazy. I would love to find a nice place like this but that is reasonably priced. If theres no houses I have several I can rez my own. My budget is anywhere under 1k a week. Im flexible tho if I think its worth it. If anyone has any suggestions or lms you can drop them in my pf or post here. I would glady appreciate any help.

Too many variables. What you should do is convert any rental prices you see into $L per prim per week, and decide how many prims you want to have. (If the operation offers a pre-build home, you won't need as many prims, of course).

Rentals seem to be running at $2L/prim per week up to $2.75/prim/week for good, stable operations.

But...you said you want to save money. Owning land is still the cheapest way to do that, because you have no middleman.

Bree, you might consider checking out Hallelujah Azul, which is where my store is. It's a very pretty sim, sort of Italianate or European, with a nice mix of commercial and residential, and a very friendly little community. I don't know offhand if they have rental spaces available at the moment, but they may soon, as a club that is in the sim is relocating next week. The houses are very nice townhouses, but I don't know what they go for, I'm afraid. My store rent is L$1500 a month for 150 prims, I think, so that might give you a sense.

If you're open to the city life.....the Staten Island/Old New York sim where I rent my apartment is really really cool. The rentals are varying in size and price and it's a good community. It's adult....but they are not over the top about it..... just realistic....it's New York City, after all.
Or....my friend Lucy Horton whom I rented from for years, may be able to help you.....she is a sweetheart and I've sent many folks her way. She's always willing to work with renters to help them get what they want. ;)
Good luck~~

Try Danick Isles. Main sim is Wando, I live on Cooper River. Beautiful! Everything from rooms to large homes to rent.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate the help. Searchin in world takes forever. I must have visisted like 12 places yesterday. Most of the communities the houses are on top of each other or there very poorly made.

In all the places I've looked at, I've found no where to rent so far. In all these neighborhoods I've looked at, they've either
1. been crappy houses
2. been on top of each other or
3. been too expenisve
Maybe I'm asking to much.

Seriously, you might ask yourself why you need to rent at all. I'm selling my plot because I've decided that unless I'm making enough stuff that I don't want to use a public sandbox, or unless I decide I have enough disposable income to do something like make a public garden, I don't need land to enjoy SL.
