I was at a pose ball shop, and crashed while I was buying a slow dance v 6. (very cool dance btw) And like a total noodle head, when I logged back on I bought it again before looking to see it was actually purchased and delivered. I turned around and asked the crowded room, if anyone wanted the v6 danceball because I was stoopid enough to buy 2. I obviously only need one... free dance anyone?

Within seconds I was accused of being less than honest... oh well.

Anyway... free slow dance v 6 to first person who ims me inworld..

Eeeep! You were being thoughtful to offer the dance to someone....the creator was paid for it no?

/me is confused by how that is less than honest.

Being nice....Tsk tsk for shame.

Congrats on your new dance Nimue :)

People simply don't trust ANYONE trying to be Nice to them, i encountered such Distrust in another game when i was quitting, and giving away my assets to a Newbie, including tens of thousands in game currency, and a maximum sized house, and Land plot. I didn't need it any more and i Just wanted to give a leg Up to a New Player.

In this day and age, where people are giving out scripted objects that steal money, it's probably wiser to not accept such gifts. But if someone was watching long enough to see you crash and come back, they should have known. Oh well...

There's also a lot of scammers out there that go to popular shops and try to offer "discounts" if people pay them instead of the vendor. I've seen this several times in several places. This, along with the free items that have drained people's accounts, and I'm not really surprised that people would be suspicious of an avatar trying to give something away in someone else's shop. It's a shame, but that's the world the scammers have taken us to.

Bits&Bobs. especially the "slow v3" is a good one (not meaning that the others arent).

I have to say sine wave for dancefloor stuff and bits and bobs for everything else.

Spent a lot at both places

Neither have ever disappointed me

I know my mommy an daddy really like #6 of those. Saw it once too, an it was really nicely done.

Here's why I would not have trusted you:

a) I'm not technically saavy when it comes to Second Life.
b) Based on what I have read, there are hundreds of ways for more technically saavy residents to grief me or steal money from me that I would not be able to anticipate.
c) If someone does harm me, I know that Linden Labs will not help me, and that I have no other practical recourse.
d) Saving $200L (or whatever the price is) on a dance is not worth the risk of all the possible things that could happen to me if you turned out to be malicious.

If there were some sort of customer protection in Second Life, it would be easier to trust a stranger offering a free gift. But, given the consumer risks inherent in Second Life, accepting a free gift is prohibitively expensive to me.
