This might be a stupid question, but is there a simple way to measure the footprint of the building.

Lets say I like the look of a house but how could I know exactly what the dimensions of it iare - short of tracking the creator?

Cheers

Put your Avie at one corner of the house, and note the numbers at the top of the screen. Those numbers point your position in relation to the Sim that you are in.

It will look like this --- Sim Name 123, 32, 50 (PG)

The First number is the East to West Point
The Second number is the North and South Point
The Third is the Altitude

All Numbers are in Meters, and each Sim is 300m x 300m, and the highest you can build is like 765m

Walk to the other corner, and make a note of the position change.

That will give you a rough estimate of the house.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Or you can put a prim down and use it as a ruler...

Gene's answer is correct (except for the 300 part). However, I thought of a much more complicated method.

Script an object to move slowly toward the building, until it detects a collision. Remember that value in a list. Then, turn to the right, and bump along the wall, recording each collision. (I am thinking of Roomba, or those old robot toys 8-).

Bump your way around the building. When the round trip is complete, return to the owner.

Click the object, and have it dump the list to a private chat, IM, or email. Voila, the dimensions of the building 8-)

Thanks! I would attempt this if I had the slightest idea what it meant!!!

My scripting skills are none existence.

just rez a couple of boxes at 10m length and place it along side the building on 2 sides
