Wondering if anyone can help me, On website it says that your first 512sq.m of land, The land use fees are free. Is this true and if yes, how does it work. Does it only apply if you buy the first land($1 per metre) or does it apply to any 512sq.m of land you purchase? from anyone. thanks

If you have a premium account, you are entitled to own 512 sqr meters of land. If you want to own more you need to tier up. If you don't own any land and you are on a premium account, it's a bit of a waste.

If you have never owned (First) land you are entitled to First Land, as offered through the First Land Program.

Correct me if I'm wrong Strife but didn't they change that so that people who had previously held land could still get first land as long as they currently didn't have any land or maybe there were more conditions that had to be met as well because I awhile ago gave up my premium account after buying first land and when I went back to premium I was able to buy first land again... I have since given up premium again and with the lack of available first land and the ricing prices coupled with my lack of need to premium doubt I will ever have opportunity to test this again.

Remember though that even though the land is free to buy first land you have to have a US$9.95 a month premium account with Linden Labs. The alternative is to go with private sim land which means you don't have to pay LL a cent but also means no first land and having to pay monthly fees set by the sim owner which may or may not be in excess of the linden charge though for my own reasons I won't give a value judgement on whether Mainland (owned by Linden Labs) or Island Sim (owned by a private owner) is a better buy.

If you ever owned land (or deeded any of your "free" 512m² tier to a group) before you took advantage of first land, you forfeit having a chance at first land.

Dropping premium and starting over is probably just a loophole they forgot to fix :).

I'll have to ask one of the dev guys about that if I get a chance to talk to them in the near future because it seems like that could be a costly loophole to both LL and to other residents if abused.

Nope, cause I tried this, didn't work for me at least.

If you have an alt. is the alt allowed to buy First Land or does that only apply to the main account?

I made an alt premium and bought a second first land (same account, card, etc.). The loophole wasn't fixed.

No the loophole has never been fixed  Back in February I stumbled across a variant of the first-land loophole described by Gordon Wendt and duly reported it to Linden Labs. Not only has it never been patched but has quite obviously been since 'discovered' by our recent breed of 'First Land' swoopers who are exploiting it with devastating effect. Not only are they gobbling up all the First Land as it comes on the market, but I believe that they are also partially responsible for the insane land price inflation experienced recently.

Until the loophole is closed no amount of First Land rolled out by LL will address the issue. All it will do is create mini-land barons out of the First Land swoopers as well as alot of bitter new residents pissed off at having to pay extortionate prices for their first foothold in Second Life.

<passes out pitchforks and torches to the crowd> Something must be done!!!

Alts are separate (not sure if you get a referral bonus for them though, not about to try that :p). If you premium up an alt it will get the L$1000 sign-up bonus and gets a chance at first land just like your main.

Gordon was talking about being premium, then at some point reverting back to basic, then a few months later become premium again.
