Over the past week, I've been having issues with my wireless mouse while in SL. It gets all jittery acting and trying to move the pointer around the screen can be annoying when it acts as though it hits a wall and doesn't want to move. I've re-charged the batteries, tried different mouse surfaces (making sure it wasn't some sort of reflective issue), and also cleared my cache.
When I minimize SL and use the mouse in another application, it works fine...very smooth and fast (think Couterstrike Source...~grins~)
Does anybody have any ideas as to why this would be acting up in SL?
System specs. 3.0 Ghz hyperthreading cpu 1.8 GB of RAM NVidia 6600 Windows XP(sp2)
It seems like the data communication between the mouse and the computer is being corrupted of slowed down somehow....and ONLY in SL.

I had this very same problem yesterday, and ONLY in SL! Seriously, I swapped to a mushy mouse pad and that DID actually fix it, every other surface I tried failed:/ Weird:/

The wireless mouse will work fine with the OS, but between SL and the OS is the API calls, these translate/react to instructions between the two programmes (Applications Programme Interface), using a wireless device will add latency. SL is a very heavy resource user and could increase the latency especially between shared IRQ's, the mouse uses a common IRQ (Comm port 1 or 2) as does some other devices such as modems and old style printers. If you problem is recent, it maybe something within the enviroment about you has changed. The introduction of applicances with unsheilded magnetic feilds (washing machines, microwaves etc) maybe interferring with the signal, and under the heavy load of SL, increasing the latency as packets are dropped due to that interference.

I may try switchin back to an ~gags~ analog mouse. thanks for the advice, I'll look around when I get home.

There may not be any changes that you are aware of.. even appliances from your next door neighbour, or the erection of a mobile phone (cell phone) nearby, someone 5 doors away from you now using a wireless router, can all influence your system. Just because we cannot see it, doesn't mean they dont exist, the same is true for radio waves.
