Okay.. here's my problem.. networked vendor. USer pays in.. Vendor sends email to server.. never gets a response. Profits don't split, product never delivers.
Tested it a bit.. if the vendor and the server are in the same sim, email gets through fine.
if in different sims.. vend actions fail. Tried resetting vendor, can't register once reset (can't email).
What is going on here... and how can we get a linden to even NOTICE the problem?

Bug report by as many people as possible? My vendors only use email to report their sales to me, but that's pretty important too, as I use their info for customer service (verifying that X user actually did buy product Y) I noticed this just a few minutes ago, as reports came in much later than the sale itself, and the "gift" function isn't working at all. It could be worse for me, but things not working as promised is still enough to annoy me, besides the fact that other people's vendors are completely borked. I imagine this bug is why my update server is dead also, though it died the day before the update.
I'm usually tolerant and forgiving, since no one's perfect and all that. But this is just ridiculous. If there isn't progress today, I plan to call and complain tomorrow. There are amateur businesses with better practice than this.

Yes, there is something wrong. I just got off the phone with Dee as this has crippled my region/mall. They are aware of a problem with it and are working on fixing it.

There are amateur businesses with better practices... there are home users with better practices too!
No Group Notices much of the time, no TP capability for the last few hours, Friends List broken... what kind of testing do they do here? And in meetings that I run, about 20% end suddenly due to network or sim crashes.
I am a software developer as well as a former CTO (just mention it to say, I know what testing means when you have a large system with many users). This is really shocking.
Don't know their internal policies, staff, training, etc, but something is wrong. Someone needs to be hired, or replaced, I don't know the internals, but something is not right. And spend the money, if that is what is needed, to get it right.
Good luck, I like this world, please keep it going.

Okay really this is ridiculous.. thanks to the lack of the Live Help system, there is no way to send a "emerging issue" warning. Bug reports don't cut it in an emergency. And thanks to the crippled "who is online" system, I have to search through a list of 100 Lindens, and start IMing them randomly hoping to find one online. I finally gave up, and WENT to "Linden Village" and as predicted, it's a ghost town. (other than noobs at the telehub.)
Nevermind that I'm flying around with my prim head and arm up my butt.. that's aesthetics. THIS is an emergency. I have had to go all over the world and manually set my networked vendors into maintenence mode (to avoid having anyMORE non-processed sales)..
LINDEN LABS.. we need a way to contact you in an emergency! put a big red "HELP" button inside that "temple" of yours.

OMG, Winter, me too. This is terrible, and I have NO (effective) WAY of getting the message out to LL. This happened last year and I IMed Live Help then and they acknowledged the problem and Kyrah (KDC) had a new vendor with all the fixes to me a day later. Less than a day later. Hee hee! Reading that back, I guess calling live help didn't do much more than confirm there was a problem. I guess I'll try to relax and see if Kyrah can make a quick fix again.
Losing sales, trying to keep my happy thoughts and trying to remember that *most* of those folks who couldn't buy anything today will try again tomorrow. I hope.

My networked vendors have been working fine all day, judging by my transaction history (I do automatic splits). Is this something that just started happening?

Same boat here. None of my networked land vendors are talking to the servers or the rental boxes. No live help, not a down region so that doesn't help. Robots on the phone don't help.
Can't TP into my home office, the region just doesn't seem to exist anymore so I can't go chill at the house.
Went shopping and paid $350 lindens and got nothing from the vendor except a "You've given me money" message so it's not just me.
Guess I'll just go cook some Sloppy Joes in honor of the way LL is running this business and call today a wash. =(

how many HOURS will it take for SOMEONE at LL to get the clue and at least acknowledge the issue exists?

Sorry to hear about these problems, folks. I don't *seem* to be having the problem with my automatic updates mechanisms which use email, but you have my sympathies. I can only imagine how frustrating this is.

I got the "failed" message when buying something today from a vendor, which I presume was networked. The fail message said something about contacting the vendor if the item never appeared. Fortunately, the item did appear in my inventory simultaneously with the message.

had it with my psitec 2 weeks ago and a friend the next day, money deducted but no item, thankfully was run by a nice guy and transferd the moment he saw the im`s
haven`t bought a single vendor item since heh
maybe LL should get their asses moving, pull down the dev team and hunt down 1 bug, fix it, implement and move on to the next, just reading about all these issue`s makes me wonder why i`m still here and compared to every one still a nub with 1/4th of a region so not much to lose if a new kinda of SL appears but can feel the pain this is causing

I've verified my Networked vendors are working. They use llEmail. It may be the sim you are in has fallen into a communications black hole. This happened to me a couple weeks ago. It was just the 1 sim was not letting any communication in or out, I kept trying to pay someone 400L and it kept saying transfer failed. Only problem was, it *wasn't* failing, and I ended up paying this person 9000L without knowing it. None of the vendors in that region were working, no IMs either. But as soon as I TPed out, bam, flood of IMs, my balance dropped by 9k and i was like, WTF. You may want to try moving your servers to another sim. You're welcome to bring them to Zebulon if you like.

Have tried moving servers. This appears to work, as the vendor does send the product, however the vendor still comes up with an error and that the customer should contact the vendor owner.

In this mess of a update i would be careful before trying anything. Wait for a call from LLABS of the fix. Other then that sit and wait.

The blog reports that they're working on it, so that's good. From my perspective, though the last several updates have indeed brought new bugs, or at least failed to fix old ones, everything gets back to a workable state at some point. Since they have finally noticed, my wrath is cooled, for now.

From: Winter Ventura Don't your automatic update mechanisms use an HTTP call? The older ones use email, actually. They use llHttpRequest to contact a web server, which keeps track of the in-world address of the inventory server. When they get the response from that, they then email the inventory server to see if it's got a new version available. Basically, in those, http is only used as an enhancement to routing, actual version handshaking is done via email. And since they are scripted to IM the creator when that process fails, and I've only seen two notices this week, I am assuming that the process is not failing. I tried it with an alt in a couple locations after seeing this thread, and it appears to be working fine for me. Emails are being sent in-world. I can't for the life of me imagine why it's different, though... Except that perhaps my inventory server is an almost completely empty sim that contains, at most, maybe 50 scripts? .

Possible. The vendor of mine that failed the gift routine was in a popular sim. My update server is just sitting on the floor of my skybox, but that sim is also popular and script heavy, being residential with two large businesses. Maybe I should move my server into the jungle sim next door...
