Right now, the front page at Secondlife.com is showing more than 1.5 million US dollars in transactions in the last 24 hours. I've only ever seen this figure above $600,000 once. Does this reflect mad private island purchases, or is something else going on?

I dunno what's up with that figure.. but I've never believed it. I have a feeling that number includes overlapping transactions and transactions involving the same person... examples:
Lets say you give your ALT $10,000L .. that counts in the USD spending figure Lets say you buy $10,000L, then cash out $10,000L... both of those count Lets say you deposit $10,000L from an inworld bank.. that counts Then you withdraw $10,000L ... that counts too Lets say you could make change and get 4 quarters for a $1... that would show up as $2 in money transactions Also, I'm guessing the big figure today is because a lot of the people just paid their tier fees. so, yeah, that big 1.5 figure shows every single money movement, even if it's just getting 4 quarters for a dollar. _____________________

It's probably all the trombone slide cream I've been buying lately. I had a friend in a Jazz Band who told me Many Jokes about Trombone Players,, But, I think i will resist the temptation to repeat them. Given Bot the number of active accounts, And the presence now of some Corporations setting up for themselves in SL, i don't see this Number as a wholley unexpected Spike, But i doubt it will continue Steadily. Doubledown is quite right. This figure is, like the GDP figure of a real-world country, a measure of all the economic activity, not necessarily a real figure of wealth generated. It is essentially the movement of funds in total, and does not take account of if they are the same funds. |

I'm gonna be with Doubledown on this one. Because honestly, I don't see multi-millions dollars worth of improvements in SL.

So this bring up an interesting theory.... the 'logged in the last 60 days'
.... are those unique users?? or just every time anyone logs in? Cause I log on and off to SL at least 20 times a day... _____________________
