I was looking through some of the new clothing offerings under new products and tried to purchase some. I said I had to be logged in first. Does that mean I have to be logged in to SL along with being logged on to the forums site as well? I don't have SL loaded at work, so if that's the case, I'll wait until later when I'm at home.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Carolyn,
You can't purchase products directly in SL via the web. If you were able to purchase via the web, you were using one of SL's web-based e-commerce sites - SL Exchange, SL Boutique, Second Server or similar. In that case, you need to be logged in to that e-commerce site in order to purchase. This is not the same as being logged into SL and the logins are completely distinct.

Thanks!!
I'm also assuming that if I'm logged into the SL exchange, what ever I purchase will be placed in my AV's inventory, right?

That's right - although you will need to log into Second Life itself once in order to link your avatar to your SL exchange account.

If you purchase from SLX (I'm not sure about other web based stores.. though I would guess it would be the same), you DO also need to be logged in to SL when making the purchase, or you will not recieve it.

I have purchased a lot of stuff from slboutique, you DO NOT have to be logged into SL at the same time once you link your SL acct to the slboutique acct. So you can set it up while at home, then go shopping while at work. LOL
To purchase from slboutique.com, you have to log into slboutique using your SL name and password. Once you do that, you have to log into SL in order to activate (link) your SL account to the slboutique account, and that's also how you transfer money to the slboutique account (and yes, you can transfer the money back to your SL account).
Once you log into slboutique for the first time, they'll give you instructions on linking your SL acct to the slboutique acct.
After linking, you can log out of SL and purchase directly from slboutique.com from any computer that has internet access, and the items you purchase are sent and waiting for you the next time you log onto SL.
I haven't tried any of the other web based vendors.

Hi Carolyn The best place to sign up for SL Exchange is in-world because it's more direct, but you can do it at the website. IM me next time we're both in world if you want to know more. BTW, the coordinates for my place didn't work yesterday because the whole sim was down. Two of us waited in the neighbouring sim looking yearningly at the void that was once our home LOL. It was offline for several hours (we didn't sit and look at the void the whole time!!!). I IM'd you but maybe you didn't get it - things seemed a bit buggy yesterday to say the least.

This is not correct, you can SLX will deliver your purchase to you in SL even if you are not logged in.
