think deleting something is just the usual "delete" function purgin would mean to empty ur trash so u can`t recover it

Deleted things can be recovered, purged things can't.

thanx In SL terms, Not much. as far as I know. Except Delete sends it to the trash bin, where it can be recovered. Purge means it's gone from SL forever, probably bound for a far better place. Or perhaps Cleveland. Wow. Look at that. She pulled the handle and came up with trips.

Hi Sara, not sure in what context this is but basically, purging say, your cache would be to clear it whereas deleting it might be to remove the folder containing it. It's subtle but really depends on the context of its use.

Delete is used to take items from inventory (or directly from the world) and put them in your trash can.
Purge removes them from your trash can forever.
I guess the reason they have the option to purge items individually is so if you delete a bunch of items you can recover one or two that you may have deleted in error and purge/perma-delete the rest.
