It means they are using google to track visitor stats fot the site. Why'd you even need to ask this question if you've seen that wikipedia page? It explains in the very first sentence.

Anyone else notice that pages served from Sl.com include null (0x00) characters, which is a known browser security bypass attempt for Internet Explorer?

I had this inworld today.. by calling F1 and clicking on the home button in the opened help window. It would search for secondlife.com page... then it would search for google-analytics page.. (INSIDE SL?), then a blank page. No further results.
