Bugs with latest SL version that no one else has.

I have been having several bugs thanks to the new SL version that was a mandatory download a few days ago. Problems include:

Random crashing when putting on items.

Right-clicking an object, going under "attach to" and choosing a place to attach the object to does nothing.

It appears that I can no longer fire weapons I have made, but other people claim that I can, and see me firing them.

Up to 45 second lag times.

If you know why these problems exist, please tell me.

This is an issue EVERYONE has right now. The workaround is to put the item on the ground and right click it and use the 'Attach' from the pie menu to choose a new attachment point. 'Wear' still works.

You say 45 min lag times.

What's lagging? 45 minutes to load the textures in the surroundings, or what?

Have you checked you network preferences? Perhaps they got set to too low a value.

What's your draw distance? Is your AGP setting correct?

I've had a bit of the random crashing when putting things on. Only once or twice though.

And.. have you tried clearing your cache? I know it doesn't sound like it would solve the problem, but it's the first thing you hear if you contact LL ;) And it does help fix some really strange bugs.

Also, try logging in at a different location. Maybe it's the sim you logged off in not communcating well with your client? I know I had major issues over the weekend, half were cache issues and the other half were actually the sim's fault.

If that doesn't resolve it, then contact Live Help and see if there's a Linden that can help you sort it.

OOOOH!!! I bloody HATE this one T_T I'll make something, and then it doesn't attach to anywhere unless i go "wear" and then it'll attach to my right hand!! ;_;

It's not fun, and if i knew how to fix it ..... well, i'd do just that. But i can't!

The workaround for the Attach To bug doesn't seem to work for HUD devices. Is the a workaround for that?

I don't beleive that there is, I have heard this complaint as well, but have not tried to attach a HUD via the pie menu.

generally you should not rez a HUD on the ground, because it can really mess it up. I have not had any issues wearing HUD items.

About this random crashing...

Random crashing when putting on items.

In answer to everyone telling you 'oh just refresh your cache, try uploading new drivers,' etc etc. --- YES, sometimes this can help, but I happen to know without a shadow of a doubt that the new updates ARE causing problems with very high spec machines ((mine)) that DO NOT have a single problem with meeting ((and considerably exceeding)) SL requirements - or with any other program, for that matter.

It is about time the Lindens recognised that not ALL crashing is down to the client, and there is something nasty rife in the game programming that is causing difficulties.

Good luck to us all, I say, it's extremely trying and I've spent more on upgrading this machine and OS than I paid for *all* my other computer games, which didn't even need it :( That's how important SL is to me but... ouch?

I've been doing the workaround for the attact points.

And several posts in this topic are replying with misreading. Re-read the original post again please!

Actually, he said up to 45 *second* lag times. Which sucks for sure, but is not nearly as serious as 45 minutes.

I don't know that any of the bugs you list are specific to you actually. Everyone is laggy right now, and the weapon problem is probably a symptom of that disease. That happens to me with gestures occasionally. I've seen all kinds of reports about the crashing issues. And the "wear" defect has been thoroughly discussed already.

Does it make you feel any better to know you're not alone?
