A young boy who has been playing in Teen grid and is about to reach his 18 year old birthday asked me what happens or what to do. Does his account transfer to the main SL grid automatically when the day comes? Does anyone tell me what happens?

Age
  1. Teen Grid users are transferred to the Main Grid once they turn 18, taking all content and private islands with them.

They used to have a party for them as well..a party held on the main grid. I'm not sure that is still being done tho.

If the mysterious "they" have stopped holding parties for these people, you could always hold a partyfopr your friend. Heck, have two parties. Go wild.

I've always been curious about this myself. Does the person in question log off the day before on the teen grid, and automatically find himself on the main grid when he logs back on the next day, on his birthday? Is there a set home point for these transfers? I hope somebody still is giving them parties, it's gotta be a jolt to suddenly find yourself in a new place, away from your friends.

I think the place is called the teen grid transfer station. You can find it in search.

Actually, from what I was told by a recent transferee to the MG, it's rather tragic. Most teens quit SL when they turn 18 apparently because there's nothing for them anymore (friends/contact list wiped). :(

This is one reason I once suggested that the two grids be "merged". All the existing sims remain exclusively adult or teen as they are now, and as many as a few dozen new sims be made as mixed access, so teens and adults can enter.
