Can anyone explain why a friend of mine, with a mac, is seeing strange textures appearing on prims, avatar clothing, and attachments. These change periodically, sometimes fast and sometimes slow.. they might be wood, stone, avatar skin templates, or just blocks of colour. My friend showed me a photograph of what he was seeing and right across the land we were on were bright pink prims surfaces. Another photo showed the same but with a skin template showing on them.. Also on his clothing and mine.
If this is a Jira that i havent been able to find, please let me know the number so we can vote for a fix.. or explain how it may be cured if there is an answer. This happened on Bermuda last night, but he says it happens all the time, and has done since the last few updates.. is it a know bug?
Thanks everyone

every once in a while, especially in certain areas and textures (hasn't happened in a while though) i'll see whatever is on my monitor projected on as textures, and they shimmer around and act all weird. is this how you mean? that would explain the skin, and can the bright pink be explained by the desktop wallpaper?

I get something similar on my Mac, tho it's usually everything going black with rainbow flashes on it. Here's the JIRA to vote for:

Yeah, there's two kinds - the rainbow/black thing is a graphics card issue, and the 'random textures on this and that' is a different one, I forget exactly what causes it.
Usually the age-old 'clear cache and relog' axiom helps, but not always, and only for a while. Wish I understood the issue better on a tech level but I don't.

I experienced similar problems for awhile when I got my new MacBook Pro, especially when I noticed my laptop heating up. I found reports of similar problems on the Mac Technical assistance forum, someone suggested reducing the bandwidth and or cache preference settings there, I did so and it solved the problem, I have not seen it in a long time.
I checked the Mac Technical forum looking for that post but its gone, apparantly LL doesnt keep those forum posts for very long.
If your friend wants to contact me in SL I will share what my preference settings are.

i get that rainbow flashing effect on my laptop and it is a PC it seems to help when i use the laptop cooler and the clearing the cashe dose not do much. It may just be the video card, at least that is what i am thinking.
