Computers crash, whether they are owned by you, LL, or GW Bush. Save often, take a copy of what you make because you never know. No computer is infallible. Blame LL all you want, but in the end, it's all about taking the responsibility to keep your stuff backed up. Sorry, but that's life in RL as well as SL.

uh yeah has your computer ever warned you before it crashed? remember to save and take copies all along the way so that you have a starting point if the sim/computer does crash please remember a sim is just run on a computer really its just not so fancy of a computer its a box with a cpu and a bunch of memory and a hard drive (that is a computer). When someone invents a computer that never has to be restarted and never crashes and always works then they will be god

Errrrr it's all well and good telling people to "save or "back-up" regularly but how the hell can you do that in SL when nothing is stored on our indvidual PCs? You expect us to keep quitting SL every 5 mins to "save" stuff and re-logging in (when u can get back in that is! LOL) ???????

I've saved things multiple times before and still lost everything in a sim crash. I'd have about 20 copies of the object in my inventory all with slightly different iterations as I made slight adjustments but KAPOW they still disappeared after the sim went down. So please.... cut the OP some slack.

i've only lost like a couple of items hehe i make hundreds of copies i'm wierd and then delete them all as i get more progress and oddly the two items I lost had been on the sim for like a minimum of 2 months (half my golf course suddnely disappeared) i'm just wondering how long it was gone before I noticed not long i dont think and I am surprised no one asked me where my golf course went to. but this is all hardware issues there is no way you are going to get warning if it crashes its just gonna crash its not something we can do anything about i tend to make copies and leave them not in my inventory but on the ground where i am working they stay there in boxes (if they are large objects) or just as is until i am done even then i have a habit of leaving several finished copies out and not just in my inventory seems to work or maybe i am just lucky I also have another lot where i just store things in a completely different area so yeah i have lke "multiple redundancies" but this is something i learned over time but you wont ever get warning if there is a crash just doesn't happen i'm sorry but that is the reality of working with things that dont actualy exist and are made of excited electrons
