Fair Cut to Store Owner Selling Your Stuff

I apologize if this is already addressed -- I couldn't find any information.

A Store Owner offers to sell some of your work. What would be a fair split of the proceeds?

It cost me a bit to acquire some scripts. The owner is the one with experience in pricing, plus the store with a draw to sell them.

1) Did the store owner make any suggestion for a split?

2) How well do you know the store owner?

I have absolutely no idea what is normal. Were it me, I'd probably offer the store owner 20% of each sale. That may get me thrown out of some shops in disgust, or may make me a noob "easy mark", I have no idea. It just strikes me as an amount that seems to benefit both sides. Plus easy to do the math on ^_^

If the scripts were expensive, the price of the item would have to reflect that plus the store owner's cut. But that wouldn't factor into whether the store owner gets X percent or Z percent, I'd think. Just what your price is set at.

Were it me, I would first figure out how much I needed to make in order to cover my costs and time and work from there.

If it's a wholesale agreement, where the Store owner pays you in advance for a minimum quantity, then 50% is normal and fair. If it's that he/she is placing the items in the store for you without paying anything in advance then you should be keeping 70%. I base those figures on personal experience over 7-8 months.

If are still confused IM me in-world or drop over to the Island and take a look in the mall

Thanks all -- much appreciated.

I met through a friend, and really like the owner -- she's very nice, and also professional. Good combination.

If I learn anything else of use to others, I'll post for future reference.
