I now have rental land. For vendors.

How do I set it up so that they can change the name where their shop is, and give them control of their space?

Wut are the dangers to ME, with grouping (deeding?) it out?

but i think as long as you are careful in the permission settings of the grp there should be no problems at all

3ring, in order to give them the ability to have a search places listing you would have to cut the property below each shop into a separate lot. This is not possible in your situation owing to the multi floor nature of your setup.

In addition, the caveat to parcelling up a mall, is that then there is no mall traffic as a counter, only counters for each business.

You can consider parceling each shop a 16m2 parcel, say near the front somewhere, but you will always have to maintain the About Land settings (parcel name, description, landing point, search places fee) for them. If you choose to go this route, be certain that your rent is +30 for the search places listing or high enough to absorb the added expense.

Cheers!
Char

p.s. you *could* give group perms where they could change those about land settings, but remember, they could then accidentally (or purposely) change your mall land if its the same group, or each others' plots.

if the mall is indeed multilevel it isnt possible to allow them to change the name of the parcel or list in search and so on.
but whatever you do you will need to create a 'binder mall vendors' group, triple check all group permissions, then set the land to autoreturn non group objects and so on.

and so.... whenever i do actually get a tenant... i should list their store name in my description area?

is anyone even going to want to rent from me, with a multi level complex like this? how much LESS should i charge for such an inconvenience?

or should i just rebuild, with each shop getting 3 levels, so i can split it up and give them 'name' allowance?

*sigh*

i dont think anyone would expect you to list their stall in the description, but it could be something to 'value add' to your product i suppose.
ive seen many multistory malls (some nice and some not), but personally i prefer a single level structure, ideally more like a plaza. for a super sexy example of a plaza check out the place hippotech uses for their main store.

3 levels per shop is how many prims? have you factored prim limits into your plan?

Hi 3 ring!

I don't think being unable to list mall stalls in search>places should be a problem. Can users set their own TP in the ads to their individual shops? That is a nice feature, but a central TP spot with a sign that lists the location of all the vendors in the mall can work pretty well too.

Good luck on your new project! I have thought about trying my hand at rentals, but am still a bit nervous about it.

it's actually 4 levels. i put one up at 550 for sexy stuff.

100 prims per level is allowed. yes, i have considered prims.

well, Charlene has been helping me set up a system that does just that. But, i can't get the TP portion to work. It used to send me to a complete other sim, now it jsut sends me to 0,0,0... no matter how many times and ways i adjust the TP instructions. GRRRRR

it's a lazy L shaped 1536 plot, so i set it up with the option to take a whole floor, or 1/2... (well, a bit less than half). i have the bigger section with 60 prim allowance, the smaller one at 40 prim allowance. per floor.

i decided to do this rental thing because i was really bored with "just a house" and i did have a little shop... but the stuff was less than average, and only selling at $10 an item. some things were more, but now everything is reduced to $10.

the one thing i DO want to sell is my scripted pet collars. but i will rent a spot for myself in my own mall for that. and, i will choose the place that has the ugly TP port for rentals, so no one is put out.

i did buy more land tho, to get my prim count up so each level could have 100 prim allowance. i put a cute little pond with ducks there. there is a nice view of an environmental bubble, so it looks great. and the ad farm is well hidden. :D and... there is a changing room in the sky, still. for anyone to use. i made a cylander, and angled it so that when you use the posing stand, you can have a lovely sunset in the background, and take really nice avatar photos of yourself, in all your outfits, or nude, or whatever.

please do. Binder Mall. it's in the most north-easternish portion of Shark, right by the sim with the enviromental bubble. don't forget to fly up to 550, and then 765. ;)

i still have some revamping to do with the windows. but it should be up for rent tomorrow, or... after i get back from vacation a week from Sunday if i can't resolve this TP problem in time.

oh, now i've made it to sound like some spectacular place. it's just a building. LOL not themed (i wish) and not even close to exciting in comparison to some places i've been to.

but.....

BUT!.... if i can get them rented, i want to buy all the land around me and make a really nice complex! i might even make a house there again. it's a very quiet sim. i like it a lot.

no, each floor has a total of 100 prims. 4 floors. 400 prims total.

the floors, however, are set to be split, so someone can rent 1/2 floor, instead of the whole thing. Spacewise, I seperated the floor into 2 sections, one larger one with a 60 prim allowance, the smaller one with 40 prim allowance. so, 100 prims per floor. you can rent both spots to get the full 100 prims.

it matters not tho, until i get the TP thinf figured out. AND....

i decided to take the land with the pond, and make 8 16m spots that will allow the renters name to be used, and their description. then, the shopper can TP from there to the actual store, or jsut walk all aorund until they find it... depends on how many prims a TP stand will take up.

i really want my renters to get the traffic count they deserve.

hey i visited the mall today :)
first thing i noticed was a 512 next door owned by a well known 'investors bank'. these guys are known for cutting down land and installing 'ad bunkers'. while not as annoying as an adfarm, you may want to pick up the 512 before it happens, especially considering its a reasonable price.
i saw the pond area, it looks nice. i would be tempted to work it into the mall layout. i would def use it as the landing point. as it is, when ppl find the mall in search they tp into store 1.
how editable is the rental/tp system? i reckon you could make it a whole lot more user-freindly with a bit of photoshop work and a few prims. ppl shouldnt need to read a notecard to figure out how to use the tp/rental functions.

i actually bought the pond land from that same vendor, for extra prims. i can't really validate purchasing more land unless part of my tier is covered. right now, even if the whole mall rents, it'll only cover 1/2 my tier.

i don't know if i can change the look of the vendor machine or not. i hate to touch it, as it took so long to figure it out originally. but, it's a good idea worth considering.

i'll change the TP landing zone next time i go online. goo didea. thanks.

and thanks for coming over. it was very kind of you to show such interest.

Nimue came too. It was nice meeting you. HEY! In a few weeks, let's plan that FORUM fireworks show. woudn't it be fun to put a 'face' to all these names? :D
