Just that simple, what is the difference between My Inventory and Library? Should I just keep my hands off the library and only put things in inventory? Tried searching a number of different ways, never saw a clear answer to this. What is the purpose of the library?
Thanks!

The library is just some stuff provided by the Lindens to get you started. Kind of like Linden-provided freebies. There's some good stuff there; it's worth browsing through. The inventory is where your stuff goes (freebies you find in-world, things you buy, or stuff you make).
You can't put stuff in the library, so there's no need to worry about that.

The Library folder holds the standard items supplied by Linden Lab that everyone gets when the enter SL for the first time.
Your stuff goes in the My Inventory folder.

The library appears to be indestructable. I seem to recall, way back when, trying to throw a bunch of it in the trash, ( I figured my inventory count was high enough as it is without a library full of crap that I never even look at.) but NOOOOO, Im stuck with Ruth and her friends, following me around wherever I go.

There is no delete option for Library items.
LOL Bill, a resi since Nov 2005 (or even earlier if you didn't sign up for the forum straight away) and this is the first time you've cleared out inventory? Naughty, naughty! /me wags finger. What about the asset servers? Oh will NO ONE think of the asset servers?

I read before that the library items aren't actually stored in our inventory but when we use them, we all draw from the same place.

From: Denise Bonetto I read before that the library items aren't actually stored in our inventory but when we use them, we all draw from the same place. That seems to be the case -- notice that when you wear a clothing item from "Library" it makes a copy that you actually wear into your main inventory.
