There isn't a preset limit that I'm aware of, but it's good to keep your inventory a reasonable size in order to reduce strain on the database. If you have a lot, there are systems out there that allow you to sort and store your textures but still access them easily when needed. Or, if you don't need them every day, you could go the simple route and store them in a single prim box, or even boxes of different texture types within a another box.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

From my experience things start getting wacky with your inv when it reaches ~5000-6000 items... For me when I got into that range (I'm a pack-rat and clothes whore, so it wasn't hard), then I started having issues manipulating the inv... Like emptying my inv trash folder took out my system (SL crash) the first time, trying it again took down the whole sim I was in... 0_o

Well that or it was just a freaky timing coincidence...

just wished there was an way to sort duplicates in the inventory for textures, keeping everything in folders and sets for easy access but i`ll bet i have maybe 500 to 100 duplicate textures

using texture previewers isn`t an option with 6-7k textures lol

i use a copyable texture organizer
i have one for window type textures
one for cloth type textures
one for brick/rock
etc etc
i have easily 5 or 6000 textures and keep them organized this way and out of my inventory

to help keep database load down i keep my inventory below 1800 items
each outfit goes into a box with its name and color on it
then i have boxes for each color set and a general box
items i dont use anymore go into boxes
projects ive worked on and sell once they are up for sale go into boxes to lessen the load
all my hair and skins is in a backpack i can put on and then take out the ones i want to use

i do my best to keep database load down and searching thru my inventory works out nicely this way

It's not that there isn't a way, it just takes lots of time and diligence to organize and keep it organized. What you kind of have to do is take a week and do nothing but organize your textures into categories. All the fabric textures, all the building textures, metals textures, all the water textures, etc... Once you have them sorted by category, go get yourself the copyable version of a texture organizer and then load your textures by category into different organizers. Renaming things into sets also helps.

got texture organizers, but ain`t gonna do a week of nightmare with 100rds of inventory move failures a day and figure out wich one got copied and wich 1 not, tried it, gave up after a couple 100rd textures

aslong these tools are so limited to find duplicate items and db problems with rezzing, i`m not touching it :)

if you move a few textures say 10 at a time into the organizer ive seen no issues
and since they are copyable if you try to rez it and it doesnt rez you still have a copy
also if you have duplicate textures with the same name it will say blah and then blah 1 so you know which ones to delete

i did one category a day when i found the organizers
it was so much better looking thru them for textures then looking thru thousands of them in my inventory and having my inventory load slow as a result of all that in there
