Please help with skins

I bought a skin demo that I really liked and it appeared in my Inventory under Body Parts with a little person icon. Then I bought the actual skin but it appeared under objects with a brown box next to it. When I try to wear it I just end up with the advertising box on me instead of the actual skin.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

You have to open the box first.

1. Rez the box on the ground (you'll need to be in a sim that allows you do this ... the store where you bought it likely will.)

2. Right click the box and chose (open)

3. You'll see a window open on your screen listing the contents of the box. At the bottom is a button that says 'copy items to my inventory'. Click it. If it warns you that the items will transfer instead of copying, click ok. (That is normal for no-copy items, but many skins do allow you to make copies so you may not see this warning.)

4. Right-click the box on the ground and choose "take."

That's it! Now your new items should be in your inventory.

Be prepared to do this often. Most merchants box items when there is more than one component. It's the easiest way to make sure you get all the pieces.

Drag and drop the box icon tot he ground, right click it and click EDIT, click the MORE button, then the CONTENTS tab, and darg and drop your shiny new skin into your BODY PARTS folder in Inventory.
