HELP With False Abuse Reports...

Late last nite my security officer recieved a message that he was unable to connect to SL because of recent abuse reports. He has been on for a while now and like many of us, in the begining he did his fair share of being way too excited about having guns. Since then he has worked his way up into several different clubs as a staff member. I have heard stories from other Avatars about how easy it is to send false abuse reports and getting all their friends to do the same. What was once a simple high-school revenge tactic which only hurt pride, can now be used in SL to cause serious harm, a permanent banishing from SL. The victim of false reports is at risk of losing all the time, effort, and in most cases RL money they have put into thier Second Life. Well after that long-winded explaination, here is my question:

How can one retrieve an abuse reports list?
My investment in this matter is simply to find out the truth behind my friends banishing. Also to help victims of false reporting. A list of reports can work as solid proof to redeem one's slandered Avatar.

As pointed out elsewhere, you cannot.

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is have a letter-writing campaign to the black hole that is [email]abuse-manager@secondlife.com[/email], and hope that someone a) actually reads them, and b) has enough conscience and care for their job responsibilities to actually investigate and fix the situation, if it was indeed wrong.

I did a search for related topics and didn't have much luck. If anyone has a sugested topic or forum I can look up that would be great.

Thats the whole thing about the abuse reports, how can you tell if the person reported is in fact being slandered or just lying there way out of being a Jerk. Whats to stop anyone from using a smear campaign to have Avatars banished, just because they can? It's kind of scary.

I'm pretty sure that's not how Abuse Reports work. It's not like LL just keeps a tab of how many AR's somebody has, and when that number reaches a certain point BANG that person is banned. They actually do research to figure out what is going on with the AR.

It would have to be a 24/7/365 job to keep up with investigating every abuse report. I have heard some horror stories about abuse reports...well..being abused, and if done correctly, it could seem legitimate. People will complain no matter what, but if one could see a copy right there in front of there face, it might have more of an impact.

I know from other online games/comunicties that banning doesn't happen on the number of AR's someone has filled against him.

First it will be checked if an AR is valid. Too often people fill AR's on matters that are not against the TOS.

From there they need something tho investigate the matter... screenshot, logfiles of chats and so on. In the end they will conclude if banning is in order or maybe an warning... or maybe no action at all.

And yes, that takes a lot of time. It belongs to running an online game/communicty.

Are you sure he's been banned or just suspended?

What reason do you have to think your friends version of the story is even vaguely true? It's not unusual for people to conceal the stuff they did wrong. In prison, everyone's innocent.

He should have received emails about his abuse reports.

In my experience, LL wants a log, a snapshot or something to investigate abuse reports. I filed on for a physical assault, and was told it was closed because I didn't have those things.

I think a rash of unsupported ARs would be a little wierd, and considering how lax LL is with ARs anyway, I am suspicious of the claim that ARs without supporting documentation are at the root of this.

LMAO...ok bad metaphor...oops,

I did find out that it was simply a SL Hiccup and he had no reason to freak out.
However what got me wondering was people on other posts, who had there ex-partners try that on them. It got me wondering if spiteful people could in fact do that to someone. After reading the replies, I feel safer in the fact that SL, is not so easily conned. After playing other MMORPG's, where someone can hack into the system and delete your Avatar, I got a little paranoid.
