How do I buy a classified ad?

This has got to be a really dumb question. It obviously has to be somewhere, doesn't it?

I've been trying for well over an hour to find where I go to buy classified ads in SL. I want to advertise my land rentals. I can find lots of links TO actual ads, I can find links to articles ABOUT advertising. I've seen where the Lindens want me to "sell" a month's worth of access to land via a box on XStreet--I can't understand how to make that work actually... I can even find a link to an article where it says SL doesn't offer any way to advertise... what the heck is that, anyway??

Where do I go to actually put down money and compose an ad? I'm interested in the "top x ads" that show up when you search classifieds on the website, and I'm interested in the ads that show up when you search in-world.

I know, I'm missing something very obvious somewhere. Thanks for any help.

Go to your profile, there is a tab there called 'Classifieds'. I think its fairly self explanatory from there... good luck

Thank you. I knew it had to be somewhere...

I've published an ad and it shows up in the Classifieds for land rentals on the website. It also shows up in the Classifieds tab in the Search window in the viewer. However, it does not show up in the "Paid Classifieds" area in the All Search tab when I search on the classification.

I know these are ranked by various means. I bid high enough to get my ad to show up in the top 15 for my classification on the website, and it does. The problem is that before I created the ad, when I searched my classification, I got about ten classified ads in that area on the first page of results. After I created my ad, now NO ads show up on that search. None at all.

Any suggestions as to what might be going on there?

I see it when I search on Land Rentals. It appears in 13th place at the time of looking.

You see it in the "Paid Classifieds" area in the in-world Search window "All" tab when you search on "land rentals"? Strange. I still don't see *any* ads there when I do that.

Yes, I see that too in the Classifieds tab.

What I don't see is any ads in "Paid Advertisements" in the ALL tab when I search on "land rentals" in the the All tab. Earlier today, before I posted my ad, there were several ads in that space.

Is "Paid Advertisements" in the All Search broken? It would seem so since ads that I saw there earlier are gone. Or am I just doing something completely wrong?

Search/All is a compiled listing of web pages generated from the other tabs. It takes a day or two to get updated when you add something in the other tabs. The other tabs are more or less instant.

There's at least one known bug with that, yes: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-12395

Clearing the browser cache in SL, Edit > Preferences > Web > Browser Cache > Clear Now, may or may not fix it for a while.

Thank you. That worked for me. Fairly annoying, since I doubt the average user is going to want to clear cache just so they can see ads.

It's more than fairly annoying, it's a paid service! Ah well, some people get to see them hey :)
