I keep reading about how Bots are really just avatars, and can do anything a 'real' avatar can do, but so much quicker.
Well, with all the lag I am experiencing, I have decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to bot. Where do I sign up?
Can't wait really. I might get some cheap land at last, get sexgen beds at L$1, get to meet other pretty female bots perhaps, pan my camera the equivalent of 15 sims, wander around every home in SL, at will, and be so fast that I can be in and out before any security orb can eject me.
Tell me, tell me, I am convinced, where do I upgrade to bot at?

Although it is certainly possible to produce a full featured graphical replacement for the SL viewer using libsecondlife as the basis, doing so is very hard, and to my knowledge no one has done this yet. I believe Eddy Stryker produced a graphical viewer based on libsecondlife code but while an impressive piece of work it was far from being an SL viewer replacement with added "bot powers".
There's a program called SLProxy that acts as a middleman, sitting in between the SL servers and the normal SL viewer program. It is possible to modify this program to give one additional powers, such as providing the coordinates of objects that emit particles, or identifying the owner of objects. There's all sorts of things this could be used for, but it's not easy to do; you have to understand .NET programming and the SL protocol and a bunch of other stuff of a similarly complex nature. SL's open source client would be another starting place for creating an SL viewer with added "bot powers". So far as I'm aware, there aren't any such things available, though I wouldn't find it hard to believe that one or more folks have done so and kept it to themself. The only SL viewer based on the open source SL viewer code that I've heard of is one that got called SLVist, which dealt with the Vista OS better than the LL SL viewer did at the time I heard of it. Working with the open source SL viewer is , in my view, much more challenging than fiddling with the libsecondlife code library, and working with libsecondlife is quite challenging enough to cause most people to look for some other way to spend their time. Those wanting to learn more about libsecondlife can start by going to http://libsecondlife.org. The wiki at http://wiki.secondlife.com has links to the open source SL client information it contains. I found an article that struck me as interesting about working with the open source SL client on the . IBM website at http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-second-life-1.html Right now I am not wanting an SL viewer with magical bot powers; I'd settle for one with a sun that is a normal looking size and appearance, or that just has an off switch, and can display legible chat text and hovertext. Why, I'd be ticked pink if someone in the open source community would make a version that did nothing different than the normal viewer other than prefill the snapshot email address with "pics@slpics.com". I am so tired of typing the subject in their by mistake, and always wondering, one I've clicked the Send button, if I had the email address typed correctly or not. _____________________

Simply plug this USB cable into the back of your head. Then, have your soul uploaded into the SL database. After that, your soul will be downloaded into a nice Ruth avatar. Enjoy your new life as a bot.

Easy Way To Kill Land Bots...

Wouldn't an easy way for everyone to kill the whole bot issue to be for someone who can code 'C' to build a basic land bot and let it go public fort all to download the code? I mean really, I have some very basic C and C++ skills and even I can semi-figure out how to code a land bot. If just one of you coded one, set it for public release on a website or make the code downloadable through download.com or something, eventually there would be sooo many active landbots that they would negate themselves. That and with hundreds or even thousands of landbots searching for land listings, LL may actually ban them due to server overload. It would be a win win win situation for all of you. If you get cheap land, great. If you get cheap land because someone selling the land messed up, great, you can give the land back and feel good about foiling a land bot baron’s profits. Don't get anything at all, great, at least you are showing LL that landbots suck up resources.

Or sneak into my house and steal an item I was getting ready to put up for sale. Bots do that...Homeland security doesn't.  |

I was checking Electric Sheep Search every day, but it is not listed there. What is going on?! Seems like the only real bots are on this forum and writing flame threads on each other and voting for proposals to ban themselves.
