Prior to the week-end i was on the verge of upgrading to Premium so that I could buy some land and then -- KAPOW!-- over the weekend and last night (Monday) everything froze and i could not get on world. I must say I would have been pig sick if I had gone ahead with my plans and then found i could not gain access to my plot.

Is it worth it ???

Thats totally up to you.. I bitch and scream and throw a tantrum whenever I can't get on. :p

I have spent an arm and a leg on the place so I have no choice unless I want to flush it down the guggler. You have to decide if its worth it or not no one can decide that for you. If you have fun with it or you have a specific goal in mind go for it. $9.95 a month is pretty much peanuts compared to other MMORPG's

Once you buy land your pretty much committed because if you fail on your land tiers you most likely will lose it. I would say a premium is worth it, but its up to you to decide if you want to take the chance of paying for land and put up with the current short comings of SL.

I've been a 3D Modeler and Scripter (Perl/Php) for about 15 years and plenty of time on my hands so, and I like the building. Although I bitch a lot, I would of sold out and left if I didn't think its still worth it or had any future to it.

Cheers

I agree with Alexis. There is only one person who can determine that... and that is you.

I also bitch around when I cannot in SL (luckily that happened not that often to me yet) and then I take my dogs for a walk... and all is good again.
So for me it is more then worth... and I just love my house and studio.

It is fairly easy for me because I am on a $L500 stipend base, at an average Linden dollar exchange rate of 270:1 (mid price) the US dollars that converts into is very nearly equal to the US dollar quarterly cost.

I accept at a $L300 stipend base you would possibly need to select the annual option to get close to break even.

What becomes mildly interesting though is a substantial appreciation of the Linden dollar to the US dollar. Don’t hold your breath on that one but who knows what may happen

I would therefore conclude by saying on balance of possibility the decision to go premium is possibly worthwhile even if you do not intend to buy land today. In those circumstances one good reason why is that it enables the real life cost aware avatar to make a decision they will never purchase additional Lindens beyond that of the indirect cost of premium membership thus capping their SL cost at say $72 per annum, with a Linden dollar annual allowance of between $L15,600 to $L26,000 to purchase in world goods and services.

The same option is also applicable if you do buy land, that is apart from the initial up front cost of the land purchase and monthly tier level required to maintain that land you can again cap or define your costs if you are strong minded

Regards

John

Go for the 10 bucks, try it for a month. While the outages are frustrating Im still getting enough enjoyment out of it to make it worthwhile.
