Yesterday, post-update, I noticed some weirdness. Every so often, seemingly random, I'm seeing established textures go black, or become a test pattern of sorts. Same thing was happening to my in-world sis yesterday, too. We're both Mac users (I use a 12" PowerBook G4, not sure what she uses, but much more high end than mine), so it might be something specific to our platform, I dunno. Anyone else seeing this? Any thoughts? Mari EDIT: Here's a piccie of what I'm talking about. There is nothing in dis piccie (aside from the railing outside the window) dat should be black: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marianne-mccann/473569783/

Mari, I'm a Mac user too - iMac G5 (Power PC) - and I've experienced this ever since I joined SL. I've amazed and entertained my friends with snapshots of the psychedelic and kaleidoscopic world that is my SL. I must say this morning it was especially colourful, but nothing I haven't seen before.

I've been fine with it for practically ever. I saw a little bit of text pattern-y stuff on early First Look betas, but nothing like last night. It was really bad. Mari

Some of my textures are showing up "blown out" or "super full bright". I only noticed so far at my shop, but not all of the were brought in by me. I use a metallic tecture set from a certain "Foxey" texture supplier that seems to be pretty popular with jewelry makers (how I discovered them). It was blown out too. Haven't checked and of my inventory yet though. Too forboding a process for the first nite back. lol

Me too (my Mac is a G5 eMac, if I remember correctly - it's at home)
Yesterday, after the update, random areas of texture were going all psychedelic on me. Groovy.
If that's the worst this update can throw at me, though, I can handle it.

I'm seeing it too on my PowerBook after this mess of an update. Not only am I getting the occasional "rainbow test pattern" on random objects, I'm also noticing portions of rezzed avs turning black and/or blurred. Both eventually disappear, but the one with the avs takes a lot longer and relogs don't make a difference.
I have a feeling this is a Mac specific bug.

ok My Brother used to have that problem occasionally long ago on an ATI video card with WIndows. I am wondering if it isn't and ATI thing since I believe ALOT of Macs use ATI.

I did this: it did not correct the issue From: Bones Gremlin ok My Brother used to have that problem occasionally long ago on an ATI video card with WIndows. This uses an NVIDIA From what I'm now suspecting, this could well be an issue with the alpha sorting fix - and could be purty widespread amongst SL's Mac users. Mari

Under the Advanced Graphics preferences , try disabling the option 'Use OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects." I was getting weird psychedelic patterns (and hard crashing) until I unchecked that option.

My eyes turned black a few times yesterday. Vertex was disabled, so that's not it.
