I know there is way to give memberships as gift through Linden Labs but is there away to give gifts towards like cash payments towards teir?
Has anyone done this or anything similar to this?

Hi FD we run the SLSF support lottery and the monthly prize is an annual membership, however LLs in thier infinate wisdom removed gift certs. We even wrote a registered postal letter to Philip Linden and i believe we got a call from a LL staff member basically saying that tough luck no more gift certs which is a shame as the lottery was started to give a constructive prize out ie an annual membership rather than L$s.

It was just another thing that LL has taken away from the membership, all you can do is give the cash equivilent in L$s to the person and hope that they get the upgrade. Its a shame as we were creating members that perhaps would stay for the year, now LLs have a steady stream of unverified accounts so why bother make it easy to get people to stay here as is demonstrated by LLs total inability to help us give annual membership gift certs out after even writing to them.

HTH :)

Thanks for responding.
I brought up because I vaguely remember something about gift certificates for memberships but wonder if there are other options.
My group had meeting and there was discussion about those who could actually contribute to land, skills, etc
And of one of my friends suggested that I allow her to aid me with the land owner with tier.
We were discussing different ways to do that.
If I share tier through groups and one person or several aren't able to contribute we could lose the land.
Buying and the reselling Lindens means often the a loss of intial value of the Lindens bought and there is something I read in knowledge base of indivuals in groups trading large sums of Lindens how this could cause issues too.
Didn't quite get it I mean I am not yet at the level where it could be issue but there was something grr can't remember where but it said trading large sums of Lindens between friends could red flag your account and that cash exchanges should be done outside of SL even if its related to group projects, etc.
Has anyone ever heard of this or can explain to me about more about the API Risk and issues with what I read about trading lindens within groups? At this point its hasn't been very much compared to what I see land dealers charge for sims, etc.
I am bit confused, perhaps I am just misreading. I haven't been able to the article again after I found it. Friend said 40k here there is nothing when other players are trading millions privately with land sells, etc.

There are no other options at this moment and i would imagine that LL will not bring it back either even though im sure with the growing population it would be a good idea but for whatever reason LL feels that its possibly not a good idea, its a shame you cant now.

I regularly transfer 60k+ around and among the business alts the risk API is for large transfers as explained in the blog however i would not worry personally unless you are intending moving millions out the game i often buy large sums and have never tripped the API but then it wont as im sure it looks at lots of factors and if u follow these 2 guides and dont

1. Buying Linden Dollars from an unknown seller
2. Accepting large Linden Dollar gifts from an unknown donor (hundreds of thousands of L$)

If in doubt email support and ask them as im sure they would rather you ask first :)

Thanks I guess it doesn't apply to me because I only buy from Lindex.
The friends I deal with I know and have in game relationships with and they buy from lindex, the trading isn't in millions.
