Nope. No voice with this release. Probably won’t be on the main grid until letter this spring. You can always go to the Voice Beta Grid

I’m actually very pleased with what I’ve experienced with voice on the beta grid so far. What have you experienced that gives you the impression that its release is a LONG ways off Ceera?

I’m actually very pleased with what I’ve experienced with voice on the beta grid so far. What have you experienced that gives you the impression that its release is a LONG ways off Ceera? DK 1: No way to mute a voice speaker without also muting his text chat. 2: Private voice chat not yet implemented. (Voice IM's) 3: Group voice chat not yet implemented (Voice Conference) 4: Gets a false positive on being "voice enabled" if you activate Voice in Preferences, so you can hear, even though you have no voice input circuitry at all, let alone a microphone. 5: No way to listen to Voice Chat, without indicating that you are also willing and able to speak on voice chat. 6: Implementation of spatialization options needs a LOT of work. Three options so far include what you hear being based on camera position and orientation, which enables invisible audio spying, and leaves you deaf to those near you (who see you as "enabled" ![]() 7: No way to log or playback Voice Chat. No proof of what was said, or by who. 8: Last I saw, the animations for people who were chatting, analogous to the typing animation for those typing into text chat, are not working yet. 9: If you're not voice enabled, there is no way to tell if a parcel or an individual is voice enabled, other than enabling Voice yourself. 10: No ability to list who has spoken recently, with time stamps, and to mute individuals from that list. 11: No ability to do a "mute all Voices heard", so that anyone who speaks near me automaticly gets added to my voice-only mute list. 12: No ability to see the parcel settings for voice-enabled or not in 'About Land' for the parcel, even if you are not voice enabled and it is not your land. 13: The default operation should be "Push to Talk", with a defined default key for that, and not "Open Mike", as it apparently is now. My own hardware makes it impossible for me to test Voice without plugging in an expensive and cumbersome rats nest of USB audio converters. I gave up testing Voice on version .109, after determining that if I don't plug in all that junk and if I leave Voice disabled in my prefs, I can exist in SL as if Voice did not exist. _____________________

I stopped testing Voice with the .109 release, so maybe some of the following has been addressed in thge last week or two. If so, I hadn't read anything about it. 1: No way to mute a voice speaker without also muting his text chat. As soon as voice comes to the main grid, I will cancel my account. I come to SL to escape RL, and integrating RL in SL defeats that. Yes, I know voice will be "optional" but there will be pressures to use it.

As soon as voice comes to the main grid, I will cancel my account. I come to SL to escape RL, and integrating RL in SL defeats that. Yes, I know voice will be "optional" but there will be pressures to use it. I took part in the Voice Beta Test long enough to assure myself that with Voice Disabled, I would not see any impact on my SL experience from being in a Voice-enabled area or around voice users. Aside from the fact that they seem to be mindless zombies... I can assure you that with Voice turned off in your preferences, you won't hear them or see any tags on anyone. And they, the voice-enabled, will be the ones wearing tags that only they can see. We don't have to wear a "scarlet letter" stating that we refuse to hop on the Voice bandwagon. There will be some people who will love Voice and will insist on you using Voice to communicate with them. Ignore them, as they are not worth associating with. There will be plenty of people who don't WANT to hear your RL voice, complete with the radio blaring and a dog barking and a baby crying in the background. Just turn it off and ignore it. _____________________

As far as I can see theres 5 factors driving voice
-LL can use it to sell themselves to Coorporate clients -Paranoid, Untrusting people can check on the gender of their girlfriends -Some people are textually challenged -Its a gee whiz feature and karaoke yeah yeah I suppose some people like talking better than typing , w/e. Its not in the top 5 in my Opinion. |

You are just trying to get me into trouble now. Serves you right for forgetting to tell me about the Yiffing..... How about a pre-emptive text only group? Actually, I think someone started one. I thought I saw a post on it somewhere. _____________________
