Prims, FirstLand and Lost Items

I'm fairly new, but I recently bought a patch of FirstLand, and I bought a 48 prim house to go on it.

My first question has to do with lost items. A couple of times, I tried rezzing some things, but it wouldn't let me because "the parcel was full." Okay. But now the items have just disappeared! I've cleared my cache and logged off and back on, but still, they're not in my inventory. One of the items was my front door, and another was some artwork I bought. I'm hoping to buy a new front door from my builder.

My other question is this . . . I have taken everything out of my house . . . all my furniture, all my pictures, my rugs . . . everything I could find. When I click on the house, it shows it's 48 prims, just like it should. But when I go to About Land, and then Objects, it shows 69 prims! This is after returning some lost items that I didn't even know were there. Is it me who's 21 prims? I tried taking off some of my clothes, but it didn't seem to affect anything. :)

When I go to Objects and then Show, it outlines all of my primmy objects. There are outlines around things that are invisible when I click out of that mode. There seem to be invisible things on my land. Maybe they're buried beneath the snow? How do I find out what they are?

I hope this was clear enough. Hoping someone can help!

You can enable camera controls under View in the toolbar, then lower your camera beneath the house and take a look around to see if there's anything down there that shouldn't be. Or, if you see objects owned by someone else after clicking the "Refresh List" button next to Object Owners in the Objects tab, you can then click their name and click return to send them back.

If they are buried...click to 'edit' something, a tree perhaps, and while in edit hold down 'shift' and click and drag your mouse to square off a certain portion of your land where the items are buried....land where the house is NOT or the house will be selected.

Release the mouse, release 'shift' and the 'buried or otherwise hidden objects will now be selected and you can 'take' or edit them, such as raise them up out of the ground.

If the items are transparent which I can't imagine a door being, you can see transparent items by going to the top options of your in-world menu, choose 'view' and scroll down and choose 'highlight transparent'. Do this again and UNclick this option to stop seeing all the transparent items.

Hope this helps :)

Don't forget that plants count as prims, too.
Beautiful gardens are prim-expensive.

Also, if all else fails, check up in the sky for an intruding sky box. Though Joseph's suggestion in post #2 should fix this.

Last resort, take your house into inventory, click the land and return all objects. If yours, you'll get a message stating "so n so" object(s) were returned to your lost & found folder. If not yours, they'll go back to whoever they belong to.

Once you get settled on all the extra prims on the land, you might consider a lower prim house. 512M supports 117 Prims. A 48 prim house is actually quite a lot for that size land - the remaining prims will get used up fast with just a little bit of furniture. You can find low prim starter houses for half the prims of your current place. My first First Land house was 36 prims which was also high.

Thanks so much for your help, everyone! I actually pulled some stuff out of the ground, but I'm still somehow using more prims than my house has. I'm not sure why. I don't have any plants or trees out either.

I took a little flight straight up, and I was surprised to see all the stuff up there. None of it was on my property though. I guess as a last resort, I will pick up my house and look to see what might be left. :)

Thanks again for all the suggestions!

I find the easiest way to retrieve buried objects is through the Debug menu. If you have Client and Server next to Help at the top of your screen, the Debug menu is already up; if not, hit ctrl+alt+shift+D. Go into Client, then down to Rendering. Click and then select Types. Scroll down to Surface Patch and uncheck it. The ground will disappear and you'll be able to see everything below ground level. It's amazing what gets buried in the side of a hill. Once you've retrieved your buried treasure, go back into Client - Rendering - Types and check Surface Patch.
