Is anyone building a non-mainland continent? i.e. for those who want to own a private sim because of the flexibility but do not wish to own an isolated island in the middle of nowhere but be connected to other sims?

It seems I am, because if I don't people get out the torches and pitchforks out and demand more land...

...but so far I have resisted allowing other sims to be adjoined. Seems... unwise, in general.

Of course, there is Anshe and Adam, Alliez and Dana... but I doubt they allow 'add-ons' either.

But I'm pretty sure there are groups that do?

I am in the process of building a 5-sim contiguous, seamless land mass for a client. The terraforming's done, and I am building and landscaping it now. It's actually surprisingly easy to do, if you have the right tools. I terraformed most of the 5-sim area in one day.

If someone has the bucks to pay for more than one server at a time, or wants to move a bunch or full-use and Openspaces sims to one location and do a major remodel, there's probably a bunch of people like me in SL that can terraform a large group of side-by-side private islands into a single continent-like land mass.

Note: I just build sims for clients. I don't buy them myself and rent space to others.
