Can someone please inform me what the heck is going on there... Something make that particular lot special? Taking off a zero would make it more reasonable, however this would then be quite on the low end.

And that piece of "air" is really nothing but a bunch of on and off states of a very small amount of electricity too LOL

Sounds to me like they don't want to sell it.

On the other hand, a lot of people who "don't want to sell" 7,000m2 of land would probably change their minds for US$1,600. Maybe this is acknowledgement of that. Perhaps they've been bothered by repeated offers on their land, and this is their way of fending off such offers.

Or maybe they just want a lot of people to come look at their land.

I couldn't help going over to take a look :) I thought maybe it was some kind of mainland island with amazing views surrounded by protected waters. What I saw certainly wasn't worth $1600, although it's pretty nice as well as protected.

It's just somebody who Believe all the press about how people will pay astronomical amounts of money for SL land. Ignore them, they will either keep the Land, or Lower the price to something more in keeping with SL reality.

Hey I got a piece of land a little more than a half K sm. At 1600 USD per 7K that works out to be a little more than 228 USD per K. I'll give a deal..............100 USD gets it all. :)

It' protected on three sides with Linden Land and backs up to aother region.......very nice place. And takers? It's lovely.........believe me. :)

PS..............I'll toss in a 60 prim three level house to boot :)

try this for land prices going insane

IMO Mainland prices are getting way out of hand!!!

Reece -You think $1600 for 7k piece of land is crazy...........try this message I read yesterday in the Land Sales section.
In no uncertain terms I IM'd the seller in game and told him he was nuts!

"Rare opportunity to buy a large parcel in a Mature City Sim! Miramare Towers is 1408 sq meters and has road frontage to the Cable Cars! The double prims parcel allows for 644 objects. Asking LD$500,000. Sorry, I'd rather keep it than sell it for less."

Yes that's about $1750 real U.S bucks for a piece land (1408 sq/m) that could just about fit the bedroom of my castle in it!!!

Worst, still the seller tried to justify the price of 355 L per sq/m, citing it was located in the City!!!. I don't care if it was the most prestigious piece of land on Second Life, i would not even want to pay 50k for this small garden plot, let alone 500k

UPDATE>>it was sold today to a company, I guess they paid this absurd asking price. ..........to place a rotating object advertise their company name!!!! As long as companies have money to throw around, we're going to see these inflated asking prices. This is one of the reasons why i'm not keen of the influx of RL companies who can buy up land from there petty cash tin.....this adds salt into the wounds of LL announcement of no more First Land available to new gamers.

Dear lord... As you said, anyone getting positive reinforcement for such insane prices will continue to do it...

Miramare is *right next to* big Welcome Area sims, I dunno, maybe it's like the Oxford Street of SL or something. Worth some money to anyone who can get "eyeballs" on it for some real business, not so much to a local SL resident as such.
