I will not give up on the issue of all of us turning in our personal information to a known data mining company to make Linden Labs think they are somehow absolving themselves of all responsiblity of what happens in Second Life. That is nothing but a cop out on their part.
My question is does turning in your personal information to a known data mining company make Second Life a better place to live for its residents?

Out of curiosity, how much would people be willing to pay for an ID/age verification service that didn't compromise critical information on themselves?

We won't know until it's up and running. As many people are saying they won't be giving their details we'll have to see how the economy pans out and whether there are AR reports all over the place. I'd imagine that some people will verify and then be miffed that others haven't so they'll start reporting people for what they see as breaches of the rules. However this is speculation on my part.
