Any hope for a fix to the problem with setting home location?

Is there any hope for a fix to the problem with setting home location on a private island parcel that you don't own?

The group roles should allow a parcel owner to set (NOT deed) the parcel to a group that they control, and to allow group members to set their home location on that parcel. But that apparently only works on Mainland parcels???

I have a parcel on a private island, and I want my Partner and a handful of our friends and our alts to be able to set their home locations on my land. I have set the parcel to my land group, and each of the other group members has the permission checked that allows them to set their home position on my land. But when they try, they get an error stating "Home Position can only be set on the Mainland or on land that you own".

Right now, the only way to allow them to be at home on my land seems to be to subdivide a small 4M x 4M parcel off of my land, sell it to them, allow them to set home on that micro-parcel, and then buy the micro-parcel back from them. And repeat that for each one of my friends or our alts, each time risking something going wrong in the transfer of that small patch of land.

I looked in the known issues and in the new issue tracker, and this isn't even on the radar, apparently. Why not?

Maybe Strife or one the of the others who has entered tracking items into the JIRA issue tracker can enter this one? I couldn't figure out the procedure for entering the issue to be tracked.

I want them to fix this too. My alts have no home now, and they're super sad about it.

Is this a fairly recent issue? I live on a private island owned by someone else and, as far as I know, no one has ever had any trouble setting 'Home.'

Must be very recently.... my partner and a very good friend have set their home location to my land (both are in my group).

I had this problem and went to the island owner, who helped me out by re-acquiring the land and then letting me purchase it for group. If you don't purchase it outright for the group, your pooch is screwed and you have to go back to the island owner to have them re-sell you the land.

As I recall, the issue came up about a month or two back. Before that, it was working fine as I described. I used to own a parcel on a different private sim, and had set my parcel to a group that I owned, and two friends of mine and three of my alts all had no problem setting their home locations on my parcel. But then an update came out and that function was broken. Same sim, same parcel, same land group, but new members in the group could not set home there.

From other discussions in the forums over the last month or so, having the land deeded to your group doesn't solve it either.

Oh? Hummm. I shouldn't have to deed the parcel to do it though.

i had a friend of mine in our grp set home to there just today
we deeded the land so we had control to everthing its the way ive always rented on islands for a year now

Tyci, the issue here is NOT what you can do after deeding to group, but what can be done on non-deeded land.

I suppose I could deed my parcel to my land group, but I would rather not deal with that complication. It used to work fine with the land merely set to the group, and not deeded. I would like to see LL fix what they broke.

For the record, I did have to actually deed my private island property to my land group in order for group members to set their home point there. "Set Home to Here" works now, but only because I deeded the land.

It says clearly in the description for the "Set Home Point to Here" Group Role option that checking that box allows a group member in that role to set their home point on land that is set to or deeded to the group. Either is supposed to work.

SO, I ask again... is there any hope that LL will fix what they broke, and make it possible for the home position to be set on private island land that is set to group, but not deeded to the group?
