I recently bought a Windrider balloon, which I love, but now I am afraid to fly it because of all I have heard about land owners wanting to eject and ban anyone who flies over their land at any height for any reason. I don't want to enrage anyone or be banned or viewed as a griefer just for drifting around in my balloon. Does anyone know of any good places where you can rez a balloon and float peacefully while enjoying the sights, without having to worry about being orbited or ejected? I found one post that said the Caledon sims are good for ballooning. Any other ideas?

Try Tsurington. Or launch from Ava's marina in the southwest corner of Salerio: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Salerio/26/26/21/. Whoever said you will be banned was exaggerating a bit. Fly wherever you are allowed to rez your balloon. Be free and fearless.

The Caledon sims look great from the air - and most parcels there are rez-friendly as long as you clean up after yourself. I have been flying my eltectro-gyro around Caledon quite a bit lately and have had very fw problems.

i never have problems except when i get into a part of land that has me blocked, and by then it's too late to change course.
and, of course, i get wedged into the sides of buildings a lot.

I have 2 public launch bays for all types of flying ships in Valqui Hyperport (the region name is Barkley) where you are welcome to launch. You can access Linden road and the ocean or just cruise about the sim sized space station. There's a zoo close by and some decent scenery. You may also launch from either of my forests sims in Camponeschi or Spini. Just be carefull the dragons in Camponeschi! lol Spini is next to the great Linden wall of China and first stop on one of the Linden RR's so you can access a lot of ground there. You can find direct links to all of the above in my profile in world.
Enjoy!

Anyone who becomes "enraged" because you floated a beautiful balloon high over their property has no right to be. In my opinion, people who bring their RL phobias and obsessions over property lines and personal space into this wonderful virtual world are being ridiculous. I get ejected from my blimp all the time. I just pick myself back up and either explore where I landed, or teleport somewhere else. You don't lose your balloon. Sandboxes are fun to fly around in. Other people there are usually inquisitive types testing this thing or that, so they tend to be the types who will fly right up to you to find out who you are, what your balloon is, and where you got it. You'll meet many new friends. Raymond, thanks for the pointer -- I'm going to steer my Zeppelin there.

Enjoy! Thanks for sharing this, Lord Berchot -- I can't wait to try it out! (I have one day left of this business trip, and I can finally log into SL again after 2 weeks of withdrawal)

Thank you everyone! I'll try these places out. Maybe I'll bump into you there (hopefully not literally!) And I'll try not to be so paranoid about being ejected from some grouch's airspace.

well, if you are enjoying yourself, it is not fun. but then. sometimes when you're speeding along really fast ina hot rod, it is delightful to suddenly be thrust into the 770' range of skyline without warning. you just never know where you'll land.

From: Avion Raymaker be free and fearless! Can I jump from your balloon? What's a RL skydiver to do while in SL but look for new jumping opportunities.

you can jump for 40 KM high if you wanted to. it's a really simple attachment that sets your buoyancy to like 50. well you could just shove llSetBuoyancy(50); in state entry and attach that to yourself.

Also you can try launching from Wingo; it borders an inland sea, and you can float all around the sea sims while looking at the shoreline. No ban lines, no lag; it's even gentle at sim borders.
