A birthday bash on closed sims? or is SL broken once again?
I've tried all of them and no luck do the open later or what?

I'm not in a place where I can access SL at the moment but I seem to recall that they weren't due to open till 12 noon SLT - so by now they should be.

Nice video feed...NOT. The URL given in world for Philips speech, mms://videolinden.silvermoon.us/videolinden doesn't work in world...unless I'm missing something. I have quicktime's latest installed.

Don't understand - can't get in to any of the Sims, probably cause they're too busy. But when I go back & try again the numbers there keep going up - they're more or less double what they were when I first tried????

:\ appeared they were using ms streaming; i'm on os x and have flip4mac installed, but that didn't seem to pull the stream up (i don't think ms provides a standalone wmv player for mac anymore). kinda sucks - couldn't get into the crowded sims either. will there be a transcript of phillip's 4th bday wishes?

The sims are too lagged out dont bother nothing will rez they need to reboot them and kick everyone but i'm assuming they are just gonna wait for them to slowly crash..

I didn't see too many problems in the two I did visit... but then the problems I did suffer were more related to the sheer numbers in the sim and my cruddy network than purely sim.

Yes totally agree. 2 of the sims have light traffic, just moveable, but the others allow 5 minutes to take 2 steps forward.

Exclusive Linden Events

I have given up going to ANY Linden sponsered event....

#1) Can't ever get in
#2) If you can get in you are so lagged you get lagged out of the game totally
#3) And due to that, you can't get in and if you set log in at home, your prg is screwed up.

maybe I will try a different sim I simply assumed the entire place would be like that. I typed in SL4B in events and went to the beach party one i think it was figuring I would just wander around from there not particularly worried about any events or contests and just wanting to see all the sites. Since it was the first on the list it was probably the busiest spot

Might have been the same place I found where the sim was running at 4fps and time dilation was 0.08. You'd have thought someone might have noticed.

Thats a Windows Media stream, Quicktime doesn't do WM (it's a M$-Apple thing).

I spent 20 minutes wandering around last night, couldn't actually find anything to do, so I gave up.

Thanks for all of your feedback here. Unfortunately, the webcast server was overloaded, and that's why many Residents were unable to access the feed. We underestimated the number of Residents who would a) attend SL4B and b) access the live webcast.

Next year, we'll definitely increase the number of sims so that more Residents can attend the opening ceremony, and I'm currently investigating alternate methods for broadcasting Philip's speech next year so that everyone who wishes to view the event will be able to without delay.
