Is it possible to disable to yellow lines around a object you have selected? There causing problems with something I'm working on.

Try using the Tools menu to turn Show Hidden Selection off, this may help some.
There are some variables in the Client Debug Settings that are supposed to affect the color, thickness, alpha, animation, and scale of the selection lines.
They have names that start with "SelectionHighlight", like "SelectionHighlightThickness", for example.
It appears that changes to these settings don't take effect until you restart SL, and the system is making me wait five minutes before restarting, so testing these properly is being a bit of a pain.
Try setting SelectionHighlightAlpha and SelectionHighlightThickness to zero and restart SL and see what that does.
