There's a list of surnames you can choose from when signing up for an account. Does anyone know when this list changes? Is it weekly? Monthly? At random? After a set number of new accounts?

After a set number of new accounts chooses a last name, it's taken off the list and replaced.

The set number used to be 150, but I think that's increased with the massive influx of new signups.

There is no fixed schedule at this time for retiring or replacing Surname choices. It's a "When we get around to it" task at LL - something they don't bother with all that often, or with any regulated pattern.

Having seen all the new surnames go up today, I now know HOW they do it too. Someone got out their A-Z of film. Lukas, Brando, Chaplin, Harvey, Lancaster, Sinatra, Borgnine etc etc. Should we have a sweepstake on what the next theme will be?

Names are often released in themes; for example, hockey players happened a while back, with Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr and others all being released at once.
