I have had no problems with the windlight veiwers thus far but this latest download caused my avatar to look much like a tattered scarecrow when all the other graphics were fine.

I was actually shocked to see this, I have attached a link because seriously, this is some messed up s**t.

This LL, is unacceptable.

My avatar was fine ... but any 'planar' textures are completely screwed.

Are you using prim attachments, or just a regular human avatar?

Just a normal human avatar, my computer meets all the requirments and I'm not having this problem with any veiwer except this new one.

I'm actuallt uninstalling it and going back to the previous windlight for now....I'm almost lost for words, how a veiwer could be so flawed as to do this is beyond me.

Oh and apparently I'm not allowed to walk either because my avatar just glides through the air like some @#*@! ghost.

Can a linden please reply to this, I really cant see how one update can cause such a mess.

Everything else is fine...except my avatar.

Okay,

I changed my graphic settings from high to low then back again and all is well...for now, but still....wtf?

LL, take a look at that photo...a close look, that is your improvements to SL all rolled into one photo.

Lindens generally don't follow the forums, the few times they do is generally because someone referred them to a specific thread. If you want Linden help/attention, you'll need to put in a support ticket (assuming you're premium/concierge).

I have a hunch how the support ticket will turn out though, so you might want to consider getting help from us lowly residents as well :p.

---

Did you uninstall the previous WindLight before installing the new one? (Uninstalling would delete your current settings in which case it may have picked up a bad default)

Graphics card and OpenGL version are always helpful as well (Help / About Second Life when you're logged in, click in the window, then Ctrl-A to select everything, Ctrl-C to copy all the text, and Ctrl-V to paste it here in a post), and possibly driver version if you know.

Edit / Preferences / Graphics, Hardware Options and uncheck "Enable OpenGL VBO" is something to try as well, especially with run-away vertices :).

Second Life Server 1.19.0.79368

CPU: Intel Pentium M Series Processor (798 MHz)
Memory: 1024 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
Graphics Card: MOBILITY RADEON X300 x86/SSE2
OpenGL Version: 2.0.5279 WinXP Release
LLMozLib Version: 1.1.0 (Mozilla GRE:1.8.0.12_0000000000)
Packets Lost: 151/42181 (0.4%)
Viewer Digest: 3399391e-5c2d-78b2-721e-f28dc9172533

And yes...I uninstalled the old one first lol, thank goodness I'm getting a new PC soon..but still, mine is not that old, I shouldnt be having these problems, If I can run DVD'S perfectly on my laptop then I don't see how windlight should cause me a problem.

Thankyou,

I posted the minimum requirements.

From your specs that you posted, it appears that you are using a laptop, correct? From what I recall, although some laptops do work fairly well with SL, LL has never recommended them.

and also looking at your specs, I would say that you are on the low end for performance.

having said that...is there a way that you could bottle that avatar and floating animation when walking because that would be a killer halloween AO :-)

hehe

lmfao...yes, it was actually a bit scary.

I am using a laptop but I'm in the process of buying a new desktop, with G-force instead of ATI too.

So I guess I'll deal with it until then, its not that bad now, it looks perfect except a few glowing things flash sometimes, it wont be long that I have to put up with it anyway.

OK, since this makes it sound like Basic customers can't put in support tickets at all, I'm going to note that they CAN, the options are just limited and none of them really fit the OP's issue. However, anyone can call the Billing numbers for support, including things other than billing issues.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

To the OP: generally speaking, you are not going to get a response from a Linden here. You'd be much better served to use the JIRA. :-)

'specially cuz it is beta software, an if yer havin a big trouble with it, now's the time t' let them know.

Are you using a standard Avi? Or did you buy a custom avi?
Do others see the same thing? Or is this only in your viewer?

It looks like this could (possibly) be a Polygon VS Nurb issue.
No way to tell unless you load your avi into another 3D program like Maya and see what kind of file extension it has.

Wow that is scary looking and it looks like the head is hiding just below the ass. Talk about horror story!

I would get a different avi...

/me wishes Aylin were joking, 'cause I want to buy that AV/outfit!!

Anyway, I'm with Mari on this one. If you don't want to start a Jira, I would post a thread in the "First Look Viewer" section of the forums, which is a better place for Windlight feedback. I think members of the Windlight team may actually look at it once in a while :)

Which means that you started from the default settings, rather than your usual ones, so it's possible/likely that one of the simply got set the wrong way :).

Did you try unchecking VBO?

Try (unchecking if they're checked) "Hardware Skinning" and "Avatar Cloth" as well to see if it makes any difference (not sure which one corresponds to the old "Vertex Shaders" - if either of those two).

Same thing happened to me and it's the Hardware Skinning option that needs to be unchecked.

It pays to have a Linden or two on one's friends list :D
