For this latest version 1.16.0....you can not browse your inventory IN THE EDIT MENU WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO SELECT A TEXTURE. I can't figure out how to report this in the JIRA. Will someone please do it??? At least I tried!
Oh, and the group IM's still open up even after you leave the group dialog! A pain to keep closing the IM window, but not nearly as fatal as the inventory! UGH!
oh, and how many icons do you need in the create box for square, sphere, etc.

Inventory browsing works for me.
What is that happens when you open the inventory dialog?

Take a look at bug VWR-740 in JIRA [to look up a bug, log into JIRA, select any category, then type the bug number (VMR-740) into the Quick Search field in the upper right of your screen.] VMR-740 is an inventory search problem for both general inventory and textures. It showed up in the previous client, 1.1.15.3, seems to be intermittent. If that sounds like your problem, just vote for it (on the bottom of the left-hand panel).

I'd vote for it, but I can't even find JIRA. I'm sure you would have linked to it, I would have followed it but . .. . bbcode is down. Now I can't figure out where JIRA is located on the Internet. I always just followed links in the forum.

Jira is at https://jira.secondlife.com . You can cut and paste that into the address bar of your browser to get to it., or most likely, just type jira.secondlife.com into the address bar and press enter. Or go to Google or other search engine and search for "second life jira", no quotes, and you wil find a link to the sl jira at or near the top of the results list.

Ooops, inventory browsing DOES work, except if you go to textures in the edit window. Let me play with it some more.
THANKS, I vote on JIRA VWR-740!

Thank-you. It was late, I was tired and frustrated. So thanks for taking the time to put in a link I've voted for the JIRA item related to this issue. Environment wasn't exactly mine, as I only started having the problem with the most recent required/mandatory download.

Does anyone know if there's one for crashing when emptying the trash? I searched around a bit yesterday, but nothing appropriate came up for the terms I used.
trash trash crash empty trash
I was (and am) at work, so I couldn't spend a lot of time on it.

I've had that happen numerous times. Most of the time I'm trying to delete too many things at the same time. ("too many" is undefined)

Yes, that seems to be true most of the time, but I've had it happen with just one or two items in the trash as well. It's pretty inconsistent...I'll go weeks without it happening, and then a few days where it happens every time I empty the trash, then maybe once every day or two, and so on. *sigh*

It's been a while since I had the crash, and I don't recall exactly what all I was doing at the time of the crash. Ann, though it's painful, could you reproduce the crash, then create a new JIRA issue with the reproduction steps exactly? If the steps are clear enough for anyone to reproduce the crash, it'll probably get priority faster.

Great question! I barely know what a JIRA is Now to carry on with the hijack of the OP's thread! *hugs brat* So nice to know I'm already forgiven. I too have been plagued with this trash crash bug for quite awhile. And even tho it happens almost every time I delete a big bunch of stuff, it truly is inconsistent. Funny story about this bug.. my SL partner prided himself on never emptying his trash. Always having had inventory constraints in other worlds, it was fun.. til he finally had to cave under the weight of his burgeoning inventory. So he empties a majorly stuffed trash can & doesn't crash! Which he then loved gloating about, of course! I have accepted the possible crashes as a means to brag/announce "I am emptyin my trash!". LOL

If the steps are clear enough for anyone to reproduce the crash, it'll probably get priority faster. I wish I could, but I never really know when it's going to happen...there's always a moment of anticipation when I empty my trash. lol It usually happens when I have a lot of stuff in the trash, but not always. Sometimes the trash stockpile goes away just fine, and sometimes two items will trigger a crash. It does seem as though, the more I manipulate my inventory before emptying the trash, the more likely a crash is to occur, but I wouldn't swear to it. Like, if I had a bunch of items in the trash before I logged off last night, and I wait until I first log in today to empty it, I'll probably be fine. However, if I change clothes several times trying to decide what to wear, rez and then take a couple things back into inventory, box up a few items I'm not using at the moment, and then try to delete a random landmark from the trash, I have a greater chance of crashing. I've been working on reducing my inventory for the last month or so, but I'm done with the bulk of it now, so maybe less fiddling will lead to fewer crashes. *crosses fingers*

From: Pal Platini Now to carry on with the hijack of the OP's thread! Oops... in penance for not being on topic, I'll make this more topical post. JIRA wiki page: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Issue_trackerThis has a decent overview of the system -- what it's for, how stuff is organized. It goes through searching JIRA for issues, since you should do that first to make sure you don't duplicate an existing issue. After that are instructions for creating a new issue. A couple of personal experiences: * FIRST: Go to http://jira.secondlife.com and click the log-in link at the top-right of the screen before you browse issues. If you try to log in from a page other than the main page, it may not work. Yeah, JIRA has a bug. The Lindens are working with the JIRA people to get a fix. * Don't use JIRA for support requests. If you have lost inventory, for example, you may want to visit the existing JIRA issue to vote for or comment (constructively) on the overall bug, but don't enter an issue requesting Lindens fix your particular instance of lost inventory. Lindens don't answer support requests in JIRA (because it's for bugs), and they or other experienced JIRA users may close your issue as "Misfiled". * Search to see if your issue has already been filed. If you see it, vote for the existing issue. It may take a bit to find it, because different people may use different ways of describing the same issue, and there may be language barriers as well. Check the Wiki for search strategies. If you do duplicate an issue, you'll see it quickly closed and linked to the original issue. I actually go through JIRA a lot looking for duplicates and closing them, so don't get mad if you see me do that. I'm trying to keep JIRA clean so Lindens and our Open Source Developers can quickly find and attack priority issues. Also, if you duplicate an issue, your issue will dilute votes for what could be a major problem. Having only one issue per bug/feature means all the votes get tallied together, and the issue floats to the top of the priority list. If an issue is closed as a duplicate, it's votes DON'T get transferred to the original issue. * Be sure that after you create an issue that you check on it periodically. Other JIRA users (not necessarily Lindens) trying to reproduce your issue may change the status to "Resolved". This means that they have a question for you to answer, and have in essence "put the ball back in your court" for more information. Issues left like that might be considered abandoned and marked "Closed: Incomplete" after a while. There are a lot of really intelligent people (I'll exclude myself from that list) that use JIRA frequently, besides the Lindens. Many work hard to reproduce bugs and more importantly, fix those in the viewer by submitting patches to the viewer source code. IMO, JIRA is a powerful way for Residents to not only provide bug and feature feedback to the Lindens, but for us to actually be able to fix some of those problems ourselves. JIRA can be challenging to learn to use if you don't consider yourself a 'techie', but it is worth it to do so for the whole community. Anyone needing help with JIRA can feel free to IM me in-world. If I'm available, I'll be happy to help.

Trash Crash now in JIRA VWR-839
05-24-2007 13:03
Sorry to post wh*re this thread, but one last thing: Since there are four of us here with the "trash crash", I've created an issue in JIRA. I think we have a real bug here, we just need to find a way to fairly consistently reproduce it. The JIRA issue is: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-839Let's take our votes and comments there, but remember it's not a forum! Refrain from "OMGWTFBBQ!!1!!1!! TIHS SUX0RZ FIX NOW LOOZER LINDENS SRSLY PLZ" comments. If any one finds a way to repro this issue, please post your steps in the JIRA issue. If we don't get a good repro, be aware this issue may get closed as Incomplete.
