I've been trying to find some sort of thread related to this but I just can't find any ;_;
So, I've been thinking of buying some land and I would really like to know some good places to buy land at. (High prim is a plus, but not required.) just for personal use mostly, so I don't really need a lot of space.
I’m not picky, I’m just looking for peoples opinions.
also, if there are any places I should avoid at all coast, please tell me about those as well ^_^ and any other land buying resources that you know of would be really helpful. Thanks! ^_^

The best way to find land suitable to you is to do the footwork yourself. The mainland is very large, and it would be difficult for someone to do this for you.
A general tip is to try to avoid buying land in new sims where all the land is for sale. In established sims, you can already get a feel of what your neighbors are like, instead of betting that a casino/club/idiot won't move into the sim.

I think you need to look at land carefully, take a walk around the neighbourhood, check out what other plots are for sale (16M plots often end up as horrible ad farms so that nice flat plot of green land you bought is suddenly surrounded by these ads). As for prims, as far as I know on the mainland it's 117 per 512m. I'm not sure about private islands and prims. There has been a bunch of new land released so shop around, some people take the mickey with prices. Might be worth popping along to someone like Sarah Nerd to see what she has available.

Thanks! ^_^ THe best advice overall is to tp to a lot of the listings on the first two pages of Land Sales search when you sort by "Land sales-mainland". Have a look around and see what appeals to you. go to a few of the waterfront properties on the new continent. Many of the sales on the first two pages are on this new land. Be aware though that if you tp into an area with a lot of plots for sale, you have no control over who will buy near you and what they will do with that land. so sometimes established areas with pretty builds around the land for sale are better. The only way to get more than 117 prims per 512 meters is to rent an estate. On the land search page select "Land sales-estate" before doing your search. Be sure to read the convenants on these properties! The price shown does not include additional tier fees.

You have to check lot of things before you buy mainland
First of all don't buy land from landbarons
Second yours neighbors ... a griefer or a landbaron putting ban lines all around your land can make your SL experience really unfunny
After, check for land shape and if it's next to linden road or water (be careful about water it can disappear if they build on it or it isn't almost 10 meters deep)

From: Tiziana Catteneo First of all don't buy land from landbarons 99% of land for sale is set by land "barons" or brokers. Brokers buy the land at auction. Most land that was sold cheaply by non-barons has been purchased and relisted higher by brokers. Also a new shopper has no way to discern land set by a broker or a non-broker. There are hundreds of land barons in SL, most of which are just buying and relisting land to make a small profit. So your advice ain't that helpful.

While it can be risky buying into a new mainland sim, they can also be one of the more exciting and inexpensive places to buy land. If you’re the first to buy in your area, what you build could help set the tone for the future neighborhood. I’ve seen some beachfront property in new sims going for less than inland property next to junkyards on established sims.
As others have stated, do not buy next to 16m lots as those will become rotating porn ads. I think if you build something nice on your land, there’s a decent change you’ll attract neighbors who will want to do the same. Though in SL beauty is clearly in the eye of the beholder.
If the price and the plot is right, who cares if you buy from a land broker or baron? In many cases, private land owners are no less likely to overcharge from my experience.
