How do retailers lock into SIM locations in theme built islands? I've thought about renting a large shop and ditching my current land, but free standing ones that are larger enough to da anything are in theme SIMS (i.e. Dublin) and big spaces are few. Any tricks or hints to obtaining these types if spaces?

Your best bet is probably to speak with the sim owners, and see if you can get on a waiting list.. someone might vacate at some point in the future and the spot would become available. It's all about making nice with the owners.

a lot of times, the sim owners, when building their themes, will actively seek out specific vendors with the goal of having them participate.
But definitely, if you want to get INTO a themed sim that already exists.. get into polite contact with the owners, and be prepared with a proposal for them. They may well be willing to boot someone in favour of a more "on theme" vendor, or to create more vendor space! Worst that can happen is, they say "no thank you" and in most cases, you can at least get on the "waiting list". _____________________

Also watch for new sims being developed. In my own case, I always create one parcel large enough for an anchor store whenever I develop a region. In that case, it's first come, first served.
