Very Strange things happening

Last night whilst trying to log onto SL as it overtook the 31,000 logons mark, I began to get some strange effects happening and im wondering if anyone else is experiencing them ??.

My IM does not work at all, the pop up at the bottom, but clicking on the IM button does not bring it up, I am also unable to activate IM from my friends list or from peoples profiles, the button is active, but nothing comes up.

Also when i detach objects, i get this strange green flame effect rising up out of my body.

This morning when i logged on briefley before work, when i teleported to a location a series of red flame like effects (red triangles with blunted ends, rising and transparent) began to rise all around me a bit like some sort of attack

and IM is still not working.

Does anyone have any ideas, I have logged a bug report, but im not expecting the linden workers will be up for many hours yet. im using the same settings I normally do, but ive been tweaking with things trying to get it to stop, which ive been unable to do so far.

the people on my friends list can IM fine and no one ive met so far is reporting the same problems

Didn't have any of the odd visual effects you describe, and I didn't do any IM at the time. However, I can tell you that at around the same time last night (31,000+ people online), trying to change anything relating to the avatar's appearance was a complete waste of time. Attaching an object would result in nothing happening, and then when trying to attach again, being told that an attachment is pending for that attachment point.

At one point I waited around 15 minutes for an appearance change that never happened. In the end, I relogged and tried again - but still had no joy.

I gave up and went to bed.

Yeah ive been having those sorts of problems for weeks, they are old news to me, but the problems Im getting now are actually interfering seriously as people IM me and I can't IM them back

anyone else any ideas ? this is definitley not a run of the mill glitch as far as I can see

I had a lot of problems last night but IM was fine. The problems were solved wen i detach all attechments from the client menu and relogged. The fact that the loggons had dropped to 28000 was helpfull also i think.

I had detached everything ..... and then this morning of course about 2am EST the logons were way down

but the problem is still very much apparent

maybe later on during the way when the majority of the US wakes up someone else will have an idea

btw im not sure if live help still exists, but when i tried to access what I thought was it , in the help menu. this also did not pop up

the normal chat window does, as do profiles, etc

I would have put it down to a wierd setting if it wasn't for the wierd red and green flames that keep appearing... I was almost of the opinion id been attacked by an SL virus or maybe someone was using some sort of strange weapon, if it hadn't been the Instant messaging problem

anyway .. patiently waits for a solution from someone whos got the same issue

Myself also (problems)

Had some TP failures last night between around 20::00 and 21:00 GMT London time. The log in main page was indicating close on 30,000 people were connected, so I presume the issues possibly focused around time catch up, an SL issue between Sims and the act of rezzing/creating/changing/moving/TP'ing etc.

Just an uninformed guess

I had the same problem trying to change clothes for a dance contest. I was stuck in a corner of the club literally with my ass hanging out. I even TP'd to my apartment and tried, but no joy. by the time I got it sorted out , the contest was over.

I had my suspicions

So no ones got any idea about the broken IM's or strange green and red lights yet eh ?

How does one contact a Linden in game these days if their Live help is not popping up either .. is there a place where they all hang out ?

if anyone else is experiencing the problems let me know

I fully expect to have no IM's and strange red and green lights swanning about when I go back ...

If anyone gets reports of their friends having the same problem, please IM me in world . maybe i can set up a coalition of people with no IM

If anyone has any ideas on how to contact a linden when my IM won't pop up let me know

Ok this may be totally off but hopefully worth a shot..

Bain, I'm thinking you might have "Show Updates" on. Next time you go into game Go to the top of your screen and click CLIENT and look down the list for "Show Updates" If it's got a X beside it, untick it and see if that makes the red things go away.

you've stopped my red and green flames ... now does anyone have any ideas what I may need to click to get my IM's working

I may have clicked something by mistake or it may be a bug

maybe ive ticked something that stops pop-ups

Mind you I don't know how show updates got ticked as it was a brand new installation
