After finishing off the polish work on my avatar, I did some sight seeing. There are some beautiful sights to see. For me, the thrill of flying through the air is exhillerating. Yet, imagine my surprise when I visited three sims where I couldn't get off the ground.
Actually, I dropped like a lead ballon when teleporting to Arizona. Gee, how do I get back up there without flying? I, also ran into trouble at Wobat sim where I couldn't approach one area. I was going anywhere BUT where I wanted to. What was going on? The same thing occurs while walking in a park in London. Did I walk into something that forced me to walk sideway? For London, I was able to fly.
I'd love to learn more of what's going on. While in Arizona, I did came across something that told me of the settings for that sim. Land Covenant and etc.
Thanks in advance.

Land owners have the ability to restrict certain actions on their land. The can make it no fly, no push, no damage, no build, they can even restrict you from entering at all.

So I found out the hard way. I wasn't angry, just surprised to see my av fall straight down. It is a good thing this is a virtual world.

If it's no-fly, they've already given you a wonderful tool to get around that restriction (and I'm sure some will hate me for even saying so).
Use your Advanced menu. If it's not showing, hit control-alt-D (formerly the Debug menu).
Advanced -> View Admin Options.
Now you can fly anywhere, no matter how the property is flagged.
Also works for many other things. Want to know the address of that wonderful music stream you're listening to, but all you see on the media tab of About Land is *********************? View Admin Options. The address will show up plain as day so you can copy and paste it.

Generally, I won't bother in ordinary circumstances. I love how Tombstone was set up. Thanks for telling me, what is what. Thought it was a tourist type place; as opposed to an RP sim. Would have liked to just watch. Is this possible. In Wobat, I found it interesting to be walking through a river and underwater in that sim. I was trying to reach a bunch of people, so as to see what is going on and to ask about the area. I, even found a strange room when underwater in the bay area. A black sailing ship was by the dock.

They are usually available t the landing point. Some will require appropriate dress, I think Tombstone has free costumes available as well,

I guess I should mention what else it's good for.
Need to teleport in somebody who's not on your friends list, but for whatever reason really don't want to add them as a friend?
View Admin Options.
Lets you send a teleport offer to anybody. I've used that many times when helping people in the TUi student learning group, Scripters of Second Life, and many other helpful groups.

I don't think that I ever touched this Admin option you are referring to, and I have always been able to offer everybody a teleport regardless of them being in my contacts list or not. You just have to view their profile (via Search, if necessary) and hit that "Offer Teleport" button. And since one of the latest viewer releases, you can easily view someone's profile just by clicking on their name in any of the chat windows.

However, as I recall, that they have a preference setting that lets you refuse TP offers from those not on your friends list. For those people you don't have that option. Since I have opened profiles where I can't offer them a teleport, I have reason to believe that's still in effect in SL today. View Admin Options overrides that setting.

From: Nick Endsleigh So I found out the hard way. I wasn't angry, just surprised to see my av fall straight down. It is a good thing this is a virtual world. I'm surprised that you fell out of the sky. Even in No Fly regions, your av should stay in the air, IF you were flying when you entered the region. But if you set foot on the ground...your wings are clipped. But the Admin Options override will get you aloft again. CTRL+ALT+V is a quick shortcut to toggle it on and off. (Note that a lot of region owners who set their land to No Fly have a reason for doing so...often to promote realistic roleplay. They might eject you if you, um, fly in the face of their rules.) There are other obstacles to the casual explorer. Banlines are an annoying one...those red "NO ENTRY" barriers in the air that you usually don't see until you've hit them. They only go up to 50 meters, though, so fly higher and press on. (Banlines are fun to bounce on top of, like a giant trampoline). Some regions don't have banlines, but are access restricted to only those people on a list. There, you get no visual warning...just a message that you can't enter. Security systems are my least favorite. You get a message from an officious robot that tells you to leave within X seconds or get ejected. While I don't like getting these announcements, security systems do have one advantage...they can be set to ONLY cover a limited ares, such as just outside your house, leaving the rest of the land free for passage. And don't forget void areas. Those dark blue expanses on the Map that return "INVALID LOCATION" when you click on them. Looking at a void area from in world, it looks like open ocean. But if you try to fly out over it...you just slide sideways along the region border. The ocean is an optical illusion. There's nothing there.

I have Admin options on, and still find profiles of people that I can't TP. I was told that both parties had to have Admin enabled to do this. Others can't TP me either, so I know it's not just me.

Yes, there is a Preference setting of "show online status only to friends" or something like that. If it is checked, the Teleport button will not be visible on the profiles unless they are on your Friends list or you have the Admin options on.
