In theory this sounds good, but as someone who doesn't have either a passport or driving license, or a credit card, how am I gonna prove my age? Also, how can LL be sure, couldn't a kid/teenager just give them their address & Mum's passport number/cc number whatever? I don't see how this is gonna work, I can't prove my age!

You are right, this is a seriously flawed idea, I wish I had a better one to suggest. But in my opinion, this has nothing to do with protecting children. This is about LL protecting themselves, a natural move for sure. But it is also about making SL the place all the Corporations want it to be , as well as having a reference of user info to track our spending habits and annoy us in world with their sales pitches.
