So yeah, my girlfriend suddenly went down to 64k because she exceeded 12 GIGS on her bandwidth usage. D:<

RIGHT. So how the hell did this happen, I asked? She answered "I don't know. I don't download songs, or anything. It must be all the updates, or voice or something."

And I thought, well yeah. They had a lot of extra updates, plus Macs got one more then usual, I think, and she uses an evil mac. So is it the voice?? Does anyone know how much bandwidth voice frikkin uses?? Just curious, cause we've been using it exclusively a lot.

On the 13th of this month she got an email saying she'd used up 6 gigs. Sheeeeeeiiiit. 11 days later she got an email notifying her that she'd used up the other 6 gigs. Seems totally insane to use that much bandwidth up in 11 days!!

So while we both love using voice together, cause we have a lot of, ah, eheh, fun with it, I am worried that it's sucking bandwidth up. Anyone else had a prob with it, or has no one else used it as much as we have (like, our entire time together on SL, so like hours and hours at a time.)

Also, aside from Skype, does anyone know any great, FREE, voice chat programs that we can run in conjunction with SL that WONT suck up bandwidth?

Yeah, but with teamspeak don't we have to have a server to run it on, so someone has to pay for the server?

As far as the others, we've tried, something about the way the mac is using them prevents us from using voice chat.

Yes, in another thread we were already discussing the large amount of bandwidth SL uses and the problems this brings with your ISP. Half a gig per day does not surprise me. I am glad to hear I am not the only one who consumes that much bandwidth.

I would love to bash voice now and say THAT is the problem but I don't think it is, the difference in bandwidth usage will not be too big.

But one should use each program the way it is intended to be used. If you want to voice chat, use skype. If want to walk around in a cool 3D-environment and portray a character you like to be, use SL...

InSpeak is a compact little voice program with crystal clear Stereo sound.

people are better off using team speak etc.........BW is killing alot of users with the first look voice client. Why why are tehy contining to lead us down a path to possible death with voice? so many problems so many neg comment of using it. Not to speak of losing future possible users because of the lack inforing possible issues etc withthe first look voice client...........
